MTN Super League: Rescheduled Week 15 & 16 – Saturday Wrap…. Kansanshi win big, FC MUZA held as ZESCO record narrow win

17 January 2026

Saturday’s rescheduled MTN Super League fixtures had a major bearing on both ends of the table, as teams chasing the title, continental places and survival all felt the impact of results that delivered goals, drama and late twists across the country.

Kansanshi Dynamos made a major step towards their survival ambitions as they beat FC Leopards 3-0 while ZESCO United recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Kabwe Warriors.

Konkola Blades played to a 1-1 draw with Mines United while Nkwazi scored two late goals to hold FC MUZA to a 2-2 draw.

Blades and Mines Share the Spoils in Survival Battle

Konkola Blades 1–1 Mines United

The draw between Konkola Blades and Mines United reflected the tension of a relegation six-pointer, with both sides desperate for points.

Blades, sitting 10th on 18 points, looked on course for victory when Victor Mubanga struck in the 42nd minute, giving the hosts a crucial lead before the break.

However, bottom-placed Mines United (18th, 8 points) showed resilience despite their poor recent form, as Prince Shipota found the equaliser in the 71st minute. The result does little to ease Mines United’s relegation worries, while Blades remain looking over their shoulders with the bottom four tightening.

MUZA Miss Chance to Close on Top Four

Nkwazi FC 2–2 FC MUZA

FC MUZA missed a golden opportunity to strengthen their push for the top four after being held by struggling Nkwazi FC in a dramatic draw.

MUZA, who began the day 5th on 24 points, flew out of the blocks when Bridger Ng’andu scored after just two minutes, before Chanda Chileshe made it 2–0 from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.

But Nkwazi (13th, 14 points), battling to stay clear of the relegation zone, mounted a spirited comeback. Christopher Zulu reduced the deficit with a penalty in the 81st minute, before Bernard Kumwenda struck a dramatic equaliser in the 88th minute, a result that boosts Nkwazi’s survival hopes while frustrating MUZA’s continental ambitions.

Kansanshi Dynamos Spark Revival at the Bottom

FC Leopards 0–3 Kansanshi Dynamos

Kansanshi Dynamos claimed a vital away win as they continue their fight to climb out of the danger zone, piling more pressure on FC Leopards.

Dynamos, placed 14th on 14 points, were ruthless in the opening exchanges. Francisco Madinga opened the scoring in the 7th minute, Bebe Musangala doubled the advantage in the 9th, and Kalonji Mwepu completed a devastating first-half spell with a goal in the 27th minute.

The result leaves FC Leopards (16th, 12 points) firmly in the relegation zone, while Kansanshi Dynamos gain momentum in their bid to avoid the drop.

ZESCO Strengthen Top-Half Push, Warriors Falter

ZESCO United 1–0 Kabwe Warriors

ZESCO United edged closer to the top six with a narrow but important victory over Kabwe Warriors in Ndola.

Abraham Siakombo’s composed finish in the 24th minute proved decisive as ZESCO, now 7th on 22 points, extended their solid recent form.

For Kabwe Warriors (6th, 23 points), the defeat slows their push towards the league’s upper echelon, keeping them within touching distance of both the chasing pack and the top four.

Title Race and Relegation Fight Heat Up

At the summit, Power Dynamos (32 points) continue to lead a tight title race, closely pursued by Red Arrows (31 points) and ZANACO (27 points), ensuring no margin for error in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the relegation battle remains fierce, with Mines United, Mutondo Stars, FC Leopards and Nkana all under pressure as every point becomes critical in the fight for survival.
