The MTN Super League returns on Saturday with four intriguing fixtures as teams begin the second round of the 2025/26 season, with league position, momentum and survival ambitions all firmly in focus.
From Kabwe to Lusaka and Choma, Matchweek 18 presents a compelling mix of top-half clashes, mid-table battles and relegation six-pointers.
Green Buffaloes vs Nkwazi FC
15:00, Edwin Imboela Stadium – Lusaka
Green Buffaloes will be eager to rediscover winning form when they host Nkwazi FC in a fixture that has historically favoured the visitors.
Buffaloes, currently 11th on the log with 22 points, are coming off an inconsistent run and will look to lean on key players Abeuty Simazuwo, Christopher Kumwembe and Perkins Mumba to steady their campaign. Head coach Aggrey Chiyangi knows three points could create valuable separation from the lower half of the table.
Nkwazi, 14th with 17 points, arrive in Lusaka buoyed by a confidence-boosting 2-0 victory over FC Leopards last weekend, inspired by a Carlos Kaoma brace. Kaoma, alongside Christopher Zulu and goalkeeper Lukas Mainza, will again be central as the Policemen chase back-to-back league wins.
Nkwazi have won three of the last five meetings between the sides, losing just once — a statistic that adds extra pressure on the home side.
Green Eagles vs NAPSA Stars
15:00, Independence Stadium – Choma
Green Eagles head coach Perry Mutapa is targeting a strong start to the second round as his side hosts NAPSA Stars in Choma.
Eagles sit ninth on 22 points but suffered a surprise defeat to Mines United last time out. Mutapa admitted the first half of the season did not meet expectations but insists the focus has now shifted to long-term goals.
“We create chances — that has always been our strength. We have worked intensively on our finishing,” Mutapa said ahead of the fixture.
The match carries added significance as Mutapa faces his former club. While acknowledging the emotional angle, the Eagles boss stressed the importance of points in a congested mid-table battle.
NAPSA Stars, 12th with 20 points, come into the game on the back of successive draws and will be keen to turn solidity into victories. Eagles hold a slight edge in recent meetings, with two wins and two draws in the last four encounters.
Kabwe Warriors vs Kansanshi Dynamos
15:00, Godfrey Chitalu Stadium – Kabwe
Kabwe Warriors return home knowing victory could strengthen their push for continental qualification when they host relegation-threatened Kansanshi Dynamos.
Warriors, fifth on 26 points, drew 0-0 with Dynamos in the reverse fixture and will be wary of underestimating a side fighting for survival.
Kansanshi Dynamos sit 15th with 17 points and the assistant coach Dennis Makinka has called for improved mental resilience following a late collapse against Nkana in their last outing.
“We expect a very tough game. Kabwe Warriors are strong at home, but we are prepared,” the coach said, adding that only one player — Titus — will miss out due to illness.
With nine points separating the teams, the pressure is firmly on Dynamos to find results as the relegation battle intensifies.
Zanaco FC vs FC MUZA
15:00, Sunset Stadium – Lusaka
Zanaco and FC MUZA meet in Lusaka with both sides looking to halt inconsistent runs and climb the table.
Zanaco are fourth with 28 points but have struggled for consistency, managing just one win in their last five matches. A victory could prove vital as they attempt to keep pace with the top three, depending on results elsewhere.
FC MUZA, seventh on 24 points, are winless in five matches, drawing three and losing two. The visitors will see this fixture as an opportunity to reignite their season and close the gap on the league’s upper tier.
