Zambian youngster Pascal Phiri has been named in Pyramids FC’s travelling squad for their CAF Champions League clash against Nigeria’s Rivers United.
The 20-year-old midfielder is in line to make his debut for one of Africa’s biggest teams when the Egyptian giants take on bottom-placed Rivers United in a crucial Group encounter.
Phiri’s inclusion underlines the growing trust Pyramids FC have placed in the highly-rated Zambian following his recent move from ZESCO United.
Phiri joined Pyramids late in the January transfer window as the club’s third acquisition of the winter period, penning a three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him in Cairo until the summer of 2029.
The Egyptian outfit described Phiri as one of Zambia’s most exciting emerging talents. Comfortable on the right wing, he is known for his pace, direct running and creativity in the final third.
His rapid rise has also been reflected on the international stage, having represented Zambia at various youth levels before making his senior debut in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo in December 2025.
He was part of the Chipolopolo squad at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 but did not play in any of the games.
Pyramids FC head into the Nigerian assignment in strong form both domestically and continentally. They currently sit third in the Egyptian Premier League with 28 points, seven adrift of leaders Ceramica Cleopatra but with two games in hand that could see them close the gap to just a single point.
In the CAF Champions League, Pyramids lead their group, holding a three-point advantage over Moroccan side RS Berkane as they continue their push for a place in the knockout stages.
Kick off at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt is set at 18h00 on Sunday.
