Former Zanaco forward Moses Phiri has opened his Simba SC goal account netting the second goal as Wekundu wa Msimbazi eased past Geita Gold FC in their opening of the match of the 2022/2023 NBC Premier League season.
Phiri who switched to the Tanzanian giants from Sunset Stadium in June scored him the 62nd minute.
Countrymate Clatous Chota Chama ‘Akalumba’ scored the third goal from the penalty spot and was involved in the other two.
Augustine Okrah opened the scores in the 37th minute to open the scores after Clatous Chama was fouled.
Chama then set up Phiri for his first goal in Simba colors at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Chama then converted from 12 yards after Okrah was fouled.
Last season with Zanaco, Moses Phiri scored 14 goals in the Zambian Premier League as the number two top scorer behind Ricky Banda who netted 16-goals.
Phiri won the 2020/21 FAZ Super Division golden boot with 17 goals helping Zanaco qualify for Continental football.
Phiri will be looking to replicate the same form in Tanzania and he is off to a good start.
