Micho targets a better performance against Kenya

The Zambia National Team will today Friday 9th October 2020 play their second international friendly match against East African top side Kenya at the Nyayo stadium in Kenya. This will be Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s third match in charge of Chipolopolo and his second post-COVID-19 era.

Speaking to the media in an interview in Kenya, the Zambian gaffer emphasized on the need for the team to continue improving as he as an eye on qualifying the country to the upcoming international tournaments.

“It is always a good thing to prepare for your next match while coming from a win but as I always tell my players, when it is good do not fly and when it is bad do not give up,” he said.

“This is why we have done a critical analysis of all the wrongdoings and we want to turn them into right doings, every player will have to put in their best as we are not looking at the names of the players but on how we can improve in every department of our team from the goalkeepers, Defenders, midfielders to strikers,” he added.

The Serbian gaffer came under heavy scrutiny from some sectors of the Zambian faithful from what many claims was a poor performance from the Chipolopolo boys despite the win. Micho says he is targeting a better performance this afternoon.

“We are looking at a better performance from the Malawi game, we need to learn how to play away and how to play at home. We are confident this will be a good step for Chipolopolo on the road to bring back their normalcy which I would say it is has been quite abnormal for the team to fail and dormant the continent,” he said.

“We are in a restructuring, rejuvenating, rebuilding which we know will not be an easy road, there will be hiccups here and there but we are optimistic we shall overcome. We have followed the foreign-based players in the leagues they play and we expect them to bring the professionalism, dedication, and hard work they put in at their clubs.”

“In order to be called for the November back to back matches against Botswana, players will have to show hard work and maturity in these games, It would be unfair to call the foreign-based players ahead of the local players if the foreign players are not putting in their best, “he concluded.

Zambia will square off with the Harambee Stars at 15:00 Zambian time and then will be away to South Africa on Sunday in the last of the three international friendly matches organized by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) during the October FIFA dates.
