Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba has responded to former Zambia international winger Clifford Mulenga, who recently questioned whether the country has a clear long-term strategy for developing young footballers.
Mulenga, who previously served as a FAZ Youth Development Officer, argued that Zambia needs greater continuity in the management of its youth national teams and coaching structures, warning that youth teams risk becoming little more than tournament projects without a clear long-term pathway.
Mweemba, while not mentioning Mulenga by name, appeared to respond directly to the former Chipolopolo winger, arguing that someone who was previously involved in the youth development system—and was part of what he described as past failures—should not now be positioning himself as an authority on the matter.
The FAZ president questioned the basis for such criticism, suggesting that those who were previously involved should also reflect on their own record before speaking out about the current system.
Mweemba was speaking to Journalists after watching the Zambia U20 national team beat Aguila Stars 2-0 in a friendly match.
