Mfune recovers, Salulani ruled out of Mali clash

Chipolopolo defender Buchizya Mfune is back in training while midfielder Salulani Phiri who limped off during the game against Uganda is set the final group match against Mali on Wednesday after he suffered a hip injury.

Mfune who played the first game against Zimbabwe at the heart of the Chipolopolo defence missed the second game after he suffered a throat infection but team doctor Joseph Kabungo said the Green Buffaloes defender has recovered and is back in training.

On Salulani:

“He has a right hip injury and he’s on treatment. He cannot play against Mali. We will continue with treatment and assess his progression going into the quarter finals,” Dr. Kabungo to Fazfootball in Kigali.

Salulani was the man of the match in the game against Zimbabwe. In his absence, Lwandamina is expected to play combative U20 midfielder Benson Sakala if he decides to remain conservative in attack. Sakala replaced the injured Zanaco midfielder and accounted for himself well in the game against Uganda.

Group D leaders Zambia play Mali in the final group game on Wednesday. The game will kickoff at 16:00hrs.

    • Look at that boy, that’s how good players look like.
And that Cletus Cham no muntwe uwalepa, he is good mwee.
Ka Benson Sakala kakali, he is hardworking.

  1. Stephen Kabamba and Adrian Chama are also new players we need in the senior national team. They are also a revelation. Not tubena Chepeshi na Mkandawire. Stephen Kabamba should now be our first left full back.

  2. I really liked the performance the guys had portrayed, though kabamba and dauti were not creative and they had to leave so much space for the opponents. Chicken must make sure that these guys are sharp in defense, they are good players..

  3. That cletus chama boy is really good though he lacks pace but overall hes got football brains on his shoulder
musekwa awe sure that boy lipulanga

  4. Jack Chirwa was also good he was winning all balls in the mid of the pack. Overall all the players performed, we can say that we have a bright future.

  5. Captain fantastic Christopher Katongo, Isaac Chansa, Stephen Kabamba, Cletus Chama and prolific striker Patson Daka should all be rested in the dead rubber match against Mali.

    • aden na wosuro ghana saa,ene ghana aye sei, okyena ghana asa,y r u soo ghana phobic, cant u concentrate for once on uor country, tournament wei entumi ema yen hwee, yes we didnt qualify so our interest will rather be on watching ayew scoring goals for Swansea in the epl, essien scoring in panaithenakos, asamoah in juve, badu captaining udinese to win matches, jordan playing man of the match games for Aston villa, amartey signing for epl league leaders Leicester city, kevin doing acrobatics after scoring for Milan;most of these guys wud be doing us and Africa proud in Russia 2018 on an ultra slim blade samsung smart tv. das where our vision is geared towards so till then continue to wallow in uor mediocrity.

  6. this is the beaut abt chan, u r givn oppotunity 2 watch local players. Some of us knew kabamba, chota, adrian as gud players, bt they had no chance 2 show their talents. We stil hv more in our ligue, sebstian mwansa, walter bwalya, davy daka nd more more

  7. chama has accounted well for himself and jacob has matured. but i still insist georges tactics are pathetic. he dosnt have what it takes to go all the way.been a realist i assess things with natural inteligence. chicken is a pathetic tactician and the team is lacking unity back going foward. youve got to start going foward from behind as one unit.

  8. continued… so as to avoid the pumping of long balls from the back. its the problem i have with zambian coaches as long as the balls been kicked they are content. with chickens tactics i think the furthust he can go with tunisia and nigerias superoir tactics is the quarter finals.

  9. @ba yama ba stumpy Muletashako @ times mwikosa umutwe but i get yo point. I was impressed wit da first half Zambia never gave Uganda space kwali uku marker but in da 2nd we gave them space and retreated instead of pressing 4 a second.

  10. Continued…with a game @ 1-0 u hv 2 score atleast another goal 2 put the game 2 sleep and add more pressure 2 yo opponent, then retreat and catch them on a counter. With Zambia these days its rare its either 1-0 or 0-0.

  11. @paradox. pf cadre, must u dispute everything i say? do u find me intimidating? do you recall how once i made u disapear from zamfoot?

    • iwe chi freemason jst like your leader, correction am the one that f first skinned u alive made u disappear but u came back insulting my parents. y shod u be intimidating to me.

  12. If mukolwe is not a great tactician how come he is delivering where others failed n every time u predict a loss we win…..so who is not a great tactician here?

  13. since 2012 i have been looking foward to a Zambia vs Mali clash…hope it will produce sparks…to me they are of the same weight
