The Football Association of Zambia, FAZ is set to announce the hiring of unnamed Mexican coach to beef up the Chipolopolo Boys technical bench ahead of the African Cup of Nations 2015 in Equatorial Guinea, Zambianfootball.co.zm can exclusively reveal.
The ZamFoot Crew understands that the Mexican will be among the three assistants to Chipolopolo Boys coach Honour Janza.
“As you might be aware Kalusha [Bwalya] played in Mexico. So it was easy for him to get this coach,” a source in Mexico City told the ZamFoot Crew on Wednesday.
While staff at Football House remained tight limped, Zambianfootball.co.zm’s South American correspondent Travis Mills, who is based in Colombia confirmed the reports.
“Yes, it’s true there’s a Mexican on his way to Lusaka. Looks like the same guy who assisted Kalusha at the 2006 African Cup of Nations,” Mills, who was recently in the country and watched Zambia’s 1-0 win over Cape Verde said.
In 2006, then as Chipolopolo Boys coach Kalusha roped in a Mexican coach but despite beefing the bench, Zambia still bowed out in the group stage.
Recently FAZ recruited Nicol Labohm to assist Janza but the Dutchman’s input has left many wondering including the players if he is an international coach.

Good development, hope he brings in a winning mentality and tightens up that porous defence.
lets put our house in order,I know FAZ,needs to beefup our technical bench. we need a very experianced men who have the ability to read the players, our opponate and their style of play.we need that ability.
Good job FaZ
janza shod listen to the inputs he will be getting from these coaches and not try to be stubborn like the pathetic renard and that small boy Patrice
Good move BA KALU we need to beef up the bench in readiness for the AFCON next month.Hope the plan will work out.
One wonders why there’s so much secrecy whenever FAZ wants to engage a new coach ( or in this case an assistant ). Beefing up the technical bench is great but it’s the manner in which Kalusha handles these appointments that makes FAZ appear like Kalusha’s toy. For all intents and purposes can’t we for once embrace transparency to enable the nation know the pedigree of the person in question? Sadly, it seems some bloggers are more than satisfied to have anyone roped in as long as the individual is foreign. Does Janza need help? You bet he does. But more than that FAZ needs to start operating in a more transparent and organised way. Otherwise if the guy will bring positive impact to the team then well done.
I agree with you totally, Kalusha aka FAZ doesnt announce who they are getting they just impose anybody anything on us, why my fellow guys in previous comments are celebrating I dont know, is it because of hearing the name MEXICO? or its a white man? or anything Mexico is good? as a nation we need to also check the pedigree of the person, Google him or something, Iam not against beefing up the tech bench but just as we hear about players being bought, transferred or loaned let FAZ or Kalu be transparent FAZ is not a personal asset… we also need criteria they used why Mexico not Brazil, Argentina etc
Well said Paddy, let’s hope this Mexican Coach is a professional and no PE trainer.
zamfoot mind what u ryt?the dutch had so many training courses in zambia which evn janza attended nw u insult him.kalus boot lickers
Anything done in secrecy is of low quality, why cant We for once do something other civilized football associations are doing to employ the coaches at whatever level? That is Kalu for YOU.Is Chipolopolo a national team or a personal to holder team?
Paddy. Great input bro. There’s definitely this idea that foreign = good. Also FAZ is not doing itself any favors by going out and hiring coaches any time they feel like it. This Mexican assisted Kalusha at AFCON and we were knocked 1st rd, so what’s the difference?
I think what kalu is doing is good because Janza is not serious or is crew less despite having good qualifications. I say this because some decisions he make are very questionable.Honestly, how can he continue using Charles Zulu who never performed in previous matches ahead of Chasamba Lungu who in the end made us win the match against Niger, not only that Dinishano Malama also performed badly but he continued using him.For that i am doubting him very much and that why i am in support with Kalu.
It’s a good move but like others have already said, Faz need to be more professional and transparent in handling it’s affairs.,
Sources say that the Dutchman (Labholm) will be appointed technical director while Janza will get a contract. Just as you may be well aware, Chintu is not ripe yet. I believe the major reason they have maintained him is that he is a very good motivator-remember afcon 2013, he wasn’t shortlisted but they went with him. I’d have loved to see coaches like Hector Chilombo , Lwandamina,Wedson Nyirenda be the ones to be roped in but i dont know why they are overlooked. Kalusha played football on Netherlands & Mexico and im sure with the financial position of FAZ its eaasier to get people you are connected with who will understand you without demanding alot but as long as they can add depth to the tech bench. Lets wait & c.
Pipo, I thought da story is about an assistant coach who in most cases is appointed by da senior coach himself, wat transparence are u talking about? He is simply an assistant, period.Gud job faz,dn’t mind them as some hav no idea of wat they comment on.
Do really know what you are talking about? You are even contradicting yourself. You said in most cases the coach appoints his assistant, did Janza go to Mexico to look for his assistant? After you contradict yourself then you say good job FAZ… Really? or you just wanted to say something?
here we go nafuti u ubupuba
Kalu is trying all his best but it’s hard for people to see coz they’re not in his shoes, I mean Zambia doesn’t have the financial muscle like this other countries but we’re doing much better than them and it’s down to Kalu’s passion for the game and his own connections.
JANZA is a lot better than RENARD
No comments,,for now..just wondering y????
