Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka arrived in Cairo on Thursday to complete his move to Zamalek.
The former Kabwe Warriors ace was part of Zamalek’s Friday morning training sessions.
The White Knights announced last Friday that they signed the 25-year old international attacker on a three-and-a-half deal coming from French second division side FC Metz.
Mayuka will undergo medicals on Thursday and Friday to complete the move.
There have been concerns over his fitness since he was plagued by injuries in the past two years.
Mayuka joined Metz last summer from Premier League outfit Southampton, where he had spent three seasons but failed to impress in the Premier League, making only 16 appearances.
He spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Lorient before returning to Southampton.
In total, Mayuka spent 8 years in Europe.
On the international level, Mayuka was instrumental in helping Zambia win the African Cup of Nations in 2012, finishing as the tournament’s joint top scorer with three goals.
Zamalek are looking to strengthen their frontline as team striker Bassem Morsi has yet to regain his form, failing to score any goals this season.
Coach Mido told the club’s official website that he might be including Mayuka in the squad that will take on Smouha on Sunday depending on his physical and technical form.
Mayuka’s last game came on 19 December, 2015 when he featured as a second-half substitute for Metz in their 2-0 away defeat to Tours.

Good luck to the young man. The biggest thing is for him to start scoring goals again no matter what the league. Strikers and goalkeepers have to have a strong psychological edge to perform well and I think his years at Southampton eroded that quite abit. Hopefully this is the move that brings the old Mayuka back. Ama Back-sama are needed in Egypt.
True sense as always,@ +ve long time.cheers.
Kwarcee, how are you my brother? Hope all is well on your end.
