Rwanda 2016 CHAN Group D action returns to the pitch on Saturday, with Mali taking on Zimbabwe at 15h00 while Zambia and Uganda will renew the rivalry at 18h00.
While most Chipolopolo faithful have welcomed the contribution of veterans like Isaac and Chris Katongo, fans have been urging Chipolopolo Boys coach George Lwandamina to add more speed to the Zambian side.
Though Zambia impressed with possession especially when they got a standing ovation in the second half from the fans inside the Umuganda Stadium for stringing over 26 passes between the 77 minute and 79 minute, the Chipolopolo Boys lacked pace and played at a slow tempo.
“We need one or two players who are capable of changing defence into attack quickly. We lacked that on Monday against a poor Zimbabwe side,” one fan said.
Below is the ZamFoot Crew fantasy…
Trio of Chama, Tozizi and Katongo could be swapping positions on the pitch. Though there’s still lack of pace, atleast they are attacking players and have better movements. Questions marks though on Luchanga starting but thats the only option Zambia has. Maybe start with Mwila Phiri Jnr on the right wing and let Chris Katongo stick on top.
How should Zambia line up against Uganda? Have Your Say
Let a Chicken, instruct his lads to have confidence when are on the ball. E.g the way the played in the second half against Mugabe Xi !! When each player holds the ball should give pressure the opponent maker. As someone has already said adding more pace with a ball.
the team that played zimbabwe is just ok but we only need muntali or chilufya in that central defence to partener with mfune & malama on the right back.
we need to watch out with farouk miya, joseph ochaya, frank kalanda & robert ssentongo there are dengerous on attack so pliz our defence shud not sleep we can be punished. but i believ we will win. wishng chipolopolo all de best!
we need to win this game to avoid the must win & aculations on the last game. remember it wil be a tough game coz uganda must win this game to increase their chances of qualifying to the next stage coz they hav 1 point in a group.
i mean caculations on the last game
i agree wit u abram,we hav 2 win dis game 2 avoid de soul cod a must win game wit mali.
lam wishing zambia good lucky and maintain de same spirit vincent langeni
No trust to score uganda might carry the day our diffence to handle miya nd ssetongo unless muntali nd malama makes a cut mid nd upfront i think katongo can chonge it to respond mid chansa can
Senegal has very pathetic stadiums yet caf made them host 2 competitions. Rwanda has classic stadia and is even fit to host afcon. Caf is way too corrupt no wonder so many west Africa nations keep qualifying for world competitions. Caf should allow other parts of Africa to host.
@John. Rwanda is very orderly country by any standard. They aren’t wasteful and looking after the environment is taken very seriously and results show. Their grass pitches and stadiums look perfect because they have no tolerance for mediocrity especially among those who manage public property.
Pace is not so important at this stage, the pitch is a small one and plays very fast due the artificial turf i believe. It’s better to have technique and keep the ball well.
I conquer with @seen from afar pace should not a factor on our game plan rather lets play a tight game with no too much space between ( defense -midfield- forwards).
just dreaming but we will probably dominate play.
Chris Katongo is not a striker.Lwandamina must play Luchanga there.then Mwape Mwelwa,Saulani Phiri and Musukwa didnt play well.other players should be used.
Lichinga has no mentle and physical strength to handle as a starter and finish,unless a sub ,probably in 75th min.
its not even about Pace. The problem is having a creative midfield not just pumping balls in front. Even commentator said it its not working out..they kept on long balls in front. I hope it changes I saw this even with the senior teams Long balls.
goals are important not any other things what we need is zambia to score goals that so…..u can play wel but if u fail to score u are nothing……. go zambia go!!!!!!!!
People surprise me with their comments sometimes, how does one argue that Salulani did not play well when he put a man of the match performance? Do some people even watch football or they just comment for the sake of it? Anyway kuwayawayafye.
I am surprised too that a soccer fan can say that about Salulani Phiri. Please let us credit where it is due. Did I watch a different Zim-Zam game?
Lets wait and see. The fact that we kept a clean sheet is a good positive. Mostly we hardly defend our one-nil lead. I believe the coaching staff are whatever is possible to win the next game.
Chipolopolo all the way.
ooop!
SHOULD READ;
doing whatever is
Please coach,L J we made a lot of mistakes @ the back 1) we did not cross the Zim boys too quick. 2) losing balls in dangerous positions. 3) luck of agency and poor judgment. Chris and Chansa have added value to the team. The flow of the ball was good attacking and pushing forward. Zim should have won that game from our own mistakes but were not good enough to finish their chances
FROM THE LOOK OF THINGS;
Supporters we are more nervous than the players.
UNDERSTANDABLY;
Supporters we are more nervous than the players.
Would Lwandamina please find another midfielder who can increase the pace of the game than utilising that chicken-legged Chirwa boy.
lets go chipolopolo
lets go zambia lets go
Park the bus in the first half ( 4-5 -1 formation )and then spring into attack in the 2nd half ( customary 4-4–2 ) when Uganda are all worn out. The one point Uganda has will make them frantically search for an early goal .
JUST wishing the boys all the best
A good coach can change a winning team .. He should work on the weakness of his player and more value on their strength.. From my own observation Zambia they do have the needed pace .. Caf should check if there is any other team which exchange more than thirty passes without an interception . Record has been made.. We are yet to concede . And sulalani phiri was voted man of tha match. The celebration after that acrobatic goal was class… Everything was classy ……
if we win th nxt game,then we ll prov dat we ar nt push-overs,bt a real footballing nation.a win ll also giv our players confidenc to reach as far as th finals.we can do it.all de best boys
The coach has restored the zambian identity of playing one touch football.. Nigeria they do not play fast football but they are hard to beat… The current chipolopolo team is technically gifted . Physically and mentally they are good ..
Donoshano Malama should play 6 and Isaac Chansa 8, Zambia will get the result.
…..just observin as a Zed observer i wonder wht my fellow observer frm UK observed.
Ba Jack Chirwa has not impressed me. Even with the U23 he looked sluggish. For me that guy can not feature in my team if I was the coach. Otherwise the rest of the boys look good though we yet to be tested by good team.
What is needed, a strategy.Looking at Zim they are quick we needed to slow them and avoid counter attack,they defended
Muntali must start
Let a Chicken, instruct his lads to have confidence when they are on the ball. E.g the way the played in the second half against Mugabe Xi !! When each player holds the ball should give pressure to the opponent maker. As someone has already said adding more pace with a ball. LAST KEY SENTENCE ” MAKE AMENDS IN DEFENCE A VERY GOOD TEAM CAN SCORE ”
Its not about running.No..this is football, not athletics. Football has its own factors of a victory.Controlling the tempo of the game is one of them. I beg to differ with some bloggers , especially those who feel Lwandamina must add speed to the team. That does not counter the opponents but it helps them to play to their strength.Lwandamina main game plan against Uganda must not be speed because Zambian players are short of it already.
J.Chirwa is a liability. He will be exposed when we play a qood attacking team.
You guys you should be giving real names of players. What is Tozizi? Not everyone knows these useless nicknames.
@Billy Tozizi is Mwape Mwelwa of zega
Chama lacks the skill of a winger we have known in Zambia from the past …he can’t take on or run at deffenders ….he terminates counter attacks…. We nid to deploy Mwila Phiri in that position… Tozizi played better as a provision winger than chama who is a winger …I miss Charles zulu ….
All the best Chipolopolo
We can only get better. Go Chipolopolo Go! Shalom
Zambian Line Up Good But Middfilder In Second Half Is Poor
