Malambo constituency of Mambwe district in Eastern province which is situated 100 km away from its provincial capital Chipata, was this festive season locked into football scenes to curb people from bad vices.
Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu who is also a member of Parliament for Malambo constituency decided to plow back into his community by sponsoring a football tournament.
The tournament was worth more than K60,000 and saw massive participation from FAZ Division, two teams, and other local teams. The tournament kicked-off on 12th December and came to an end on 25th December.
Two FAZ Division II teams in Malambo United and Sky warriors reached the semi-finals all eventually going all the way to the finals where they labored for the top prize. The 3rd and 4th round was played by local teams which are Kamoto FC and Mfuwe united.
Tournament favorite Malambo United was handed a shock defeat by Sky warriors in the final falling by a lone goal and in the 3rd and 4th play-offs, Kamoto Fc grabbed the 3rd place thanks to a 5-4 win on post-match penalties following a one-all draw in regulation time.
