Majaka targets positive result as Makeni face Nkana

Makeni All Stars head coach Francis Majaka says his side will be aiming for a positive result when they travel to Kitwe to face Nkana in the MTN Super League on Saturday.

The newly promoted side will take on the 13-time league champions at Nkana Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 hours, as they seek their first victory in the top flight.

Majaka acknowledges the challenge awaiting his team but insists his technical bench has been working to address the shortcomings from their opening fixture.

“I know our fans have high expectations, but it is going to be a tough game. We will do our best to ensure the team comes out with a positive result,” Majaka said.

Makeni were held to a goalless draw by Kansanshi Dynamos in their opening match, despite creating several opportunities to score.

The coach believes improving their finishing could prove decisive against Nkana, who began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over fellow newcomers Trident FC.

“Against Kansanshi Dynamos, we created a lot of chances but failed to convert. Nevertheless, my technical bench and I have worked on that area so that we can collect maximum points against Nkana,” he added.

Majaka has also called on Makeni supporters to rally behind the team as they prepare to face one of the country’s most decorated clubs.

“We want the fans to be with us in spirit as we face one of the biggest clubs in the country. We ask them to rally behind us in spirit and at the stadium,” he said.

Makeni will be hoping to build on their promising start against Kansanshi as they look to secure their first three points of the campaign, while Nkana will be eager to maintain their winning momentum in front of their home supporters.
