A fresh rift has emerged between Zambian international striker Fashion Sakala and Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga, with the outspoken forward declaring he will not apologise in order to be recalled to the national team.
In a near hour-long Facebook Live session on Tuesday — viewed by over 7,000 people — Sakala accused Kamanga of dishonesty, alleging that the FAZ president privately assured him of a return to the national side.
“Mr Kamanga is a betrayer, he betrayed me. After all these things that me and him spoke about in secret, he’s going live, having interviews, telling people, telling the whole country about the coach having the powers to select the players, which is true.
“But he shouldn’t have said that to me, that “no I will bring you back, you know I’m the boss, I will take this coach out, he’s not even staying.”
The remarks come in response to Kamanga’s appearance on Hot FM’s The Hot Seat, where he attributed Sakala’s absence to his “strained relationship with fellow players” rather than any fallout with the coach alone.
Sakala, 28, has not featured for Zambia since the national team’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign earlier this year, amid ongoing friction with head coach Avram Grant.
The striker was left out of the squad following what insiders described as disciplinary issues.

This is becoming worse with the zambian soccer management , as for now no second option or perception faz comittee , Mr Andrew Kamanga must leave the governing board and give time for others to work on the things he failed this issue is tottaly rubbish , my slogan “KAMANGA! They are supposed to be discussed within the inner circle. Some of these careers are shortlived. We have seen professionals prosper and later on get to nowhere. Let’s embrace one another. Differences will always be there in our interactions but should not separate us.
What crime did the young man Fashion Sakala commit which cannot be forgiven? This is shameful. Sakala is one of Zambia’s current top soccer icons. Can’t you see how we have been going down and down every time with his absence?. We cannot continue to be failing to progress because of Kamanga. By the way Where are all the young men who were in the under 20 world cup Team that reached the quarter final with Sakala in their line up?
Let Kamanga and his friend Avram go. We need real change at Football house to warrant successes and victories.
After tomorrow may the Counsellors make us happy by voting Kamanga out. Long live football in Zambia.
