Progress Sports Club on Sunday afternoon succumbed to a second successive defeat in the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s League Lusaka Province Match Week 8 encounter this time around at the hands of Luyando Foundation Girls played at Mt. Makulu Secondary School Grounds in Linda Compound, Chilanga District.
After settling for a goalless first half which saw Progress Goalkeeper Brenda Zulu saving Evaline Suzeni Katongo’s penalty spot, immediately after the restart Ruth Daka opened the scores for Luyando Foundation in the 46th minute before Evaline Katongo grabbed a brace with 2 quick goals in the 66th and 68th minute to ensure The People’s Favorite Team of Choice extend their unbeaten run in the league with a comfortable 3-nil scoreline as this result is a tough one for Progress who are still in the building process after 6 of their key players have been loaned to super league teams.
Meanwhile, at TAP Ground in Freedom Compound but still, in Chilanga District, new girls in the league Zanaco were handed a 4-nil bashing by Lusaka Queens who are have been a team on fire.
Queens of Lusaka goal poacher and current top goal scorer with 11 goals to her name, Ruth Ngoma scored her second brace in 2 games this afternoon while Rosemary Mbewe and Isabel Kambulu contributed a goal each to make it 4-0 and a sweet home victory for Lusaka Queens while it’s a sad start to the season for the Sensational Ladies who will have to redeem themselves in their next assignment away to Mapani at Olympia Park Secondary School Grounds.
On Saturday, Pataaki Girls won bragging rights in the Olympia Derby as they defeated Mapani Queens 2-0 at Olympia Park Secondary School Grounds in a match week 8 of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s League Lusaka Province.
After a goalless first half, the Stubborn Girls came back as a rejuvenated side in the second half Jessy Zulu opened the scores for Coach Patrick Luwephiri ‘s side to make it 1-0 and just before the end of the match Blessings Z Zulu added the icing on the cake with a second goal and put the tie beyond comeback for Mapani who will be back to the drawing board while it’s a sweet victory for the Stubborn Girls who have redeemed themselves after last weekend’s loss to Lusaka Queens as they are back to winning ways.
Elsewhere at ZNS Makeni Grounds, log leaders and unstoppable Green Eagles cruised 2-0 past Chibolya Sports Academy to maintain a 100% winning record in 8 matches.
Celina Zimba and club top goal scorer Natasha Nanyangwe scored a goal each for the Coach Simon Kayombo drilled lasses to carry the day with a 2-0 victory.
This was Nanyangwe’s 7th goal of the season for Eagles.
NAPSA Stars Queens recorded their first victory in the league with a 2-1 win over Twikatane at NAPSA Sports Complex while Football Chance Foundation Girls utilized home ground advantage with a slender 1-nil win over King Sports Academy and it was the same scoreline between Lusaka Red Lions and Kafue Celtic Queens at Twikatane with Margaret Chilekwa grabbing the winner for Celtic Girls.
Misisi Queens United was too strong for Garden Youth as they won 3-1 at Katwishi Grounds to grab maximum points.
