Chilufya on target in Swedish league opener…Seven goals in six games all Competitions

Striker Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya scored the second goal of the game as Djurgadens IF beat Elfsborg 2-0 in their opening match of the 2021 Swedish Allsvenskan.

Djurgadens started the 2021 Allsvenskan campaign with a trip away to the Borås Arena in Borås facing Elfsborg. The hosts started well and created two good chances but failed to find the back of the net.

Djurgadens however made their chance count as Aslak Witry scored the opener in the 12th minute after a meeting a brilliant Nicklas Bärkroth cross from the right-wing, a dream start for coach Kim Bergstrand and his men.

Zambian export to Sweden, Edward Chilufya secured the win twelve minutes into the second half, Kalle Holmberg rolled up the ball into the path of Chilufya who with his usual lightning-fast speed certainly placed it past Rönning, 2-0 for Djurgadens.

The Tiger has now scored 7 goals in six games in all competitions. Midfielder Emmanuel Banda was a second-half substitute.

After the match Chilufya has this to say: It was a tough match for us but we played well. It was the first match in the series but we got into the good and I think we scored two nice goals. I was very happy to score my first league goal of the year and I have trained extra hard this year in the finals, so it feels good that it pays off.”

  1. I agree with you Tony Mash. Him and Emmanuel Banda deserve a look. Let the Coach give them an opportunity.

Boys like these can give us a strong bench. Compared these boys to some of the substitutes we used against Algeria and Zimbabwe. Miles ahead…
