Lushomo Mweemba happy with a player of the match accolade

Green Buffaloes Women Football Club Defender Lushomo Mweemba is elated after she was voted as player of the match yesterday in the 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League l COSAFA Qualifiers 1-0 semi-final loss to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zelwathini Stadium in Durban with the only goal scored by Melinda Kgadiete just before half time.

Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew, Mweemba said the team played well despite the loss and she said it’s because of collective teamwork that she was voted player of the match.

“We played well against Sundowns despite an early goal in the first half otherwise am happy I have voted as player of the match thanks to the teamwork that we had put up and we have gained experience from this tournament and we will bounce back and do better in the coming assignments and qualify to the CAF Women’s Champions League finals,” Mweemba speaking.

After the semi-final elimination by Sundowns, Buffaloes will now shift attention to the 2020/21 Inaugural Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s Super League which will end next month.

“We are now going to shift our focus to the local league and keep fighting hard so that we win the league and come back to this tournament and use the experience that we have gained by doing better and possibly win the trophy and qualify to the CAF Women’s Champions League,” she added
