2021 ABSA Cup winners, Lusaka Dynamos on Monday answered Zambia Sports Fans Association patron Peter Makembo’s distress call as the club donated K100,000 to enable him to undergo an operation on his cervical region.

The Lusaka Dynamos Football Club contingent was led by President Hanif Adams, Head Coach Wedson ‘Wada’ Nyirenda, club Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) Francis Bwalya, and Club Secretary/Technical Manager Oliver Sepiso Shalala.

Pastor Makembo expressed gratitude to Lusaka Dynamos for the gesture shown to him and called on well-wishers to continue with the same spirit. He also revealed that FAZ Patron, Republican President, his Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu also came to his aid.

“I’m very grateful, for Lusaka Dynamos, Am very touched already that is healing for me when I was in my bed, God said that is not for you worry about, to you Mr. Hanif, it’s God who has touched you and you have obeyed. We need each other when someone is going through what am going through,” he said.

“Before you came in I also received help from his excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and these other people who have been donating I value all your donations. This is what is Zambia is looking for when Zambia is down we need to lift one another, and out of this very soon I need to go back to the terraces because that’s where I belong, I don’t belong here, I have got work to do there, work which was left behind by the team that perished who were on their way to the world cup. The qualifiers start in June, And I have to finish that race so that we make ourselves qualify and bring that cup,” he added.

Lusaka Dynamos president, Hanif Adams said the club felt obliged to help Makembo because of his contribution to Zambian football.

“We felt obliged that after winning the ABSA Cup the money we received, I just felt obliged that since he is a man of football and he needs help and has contributed a lot to Zambian football especially his passion when it comes to supporters I just felt it was the right gesture to donate some money to him. The money was supposed to be shared by the players who played the game and we decided to take that money and give it to the Pastor [Peter Makembo],” he said.

“As Lusaka Dynamos we also look at people who have contributed in other ways to football and if there is a way to help we will always be there to help.”

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) licensing manager Gideon Kaumba applauded Elite Lusaka Dynamos for this gesture forwards Pastor Makembo in his time of need.
