Lumwana Radiants will go back to North-Western province in celebratory mood after they held champions Zesco United to a 1 – 1 draw in Ndola.
Zesco looked the obvious choice to pick three points going into the game against the newly promoted side and they started well with league top scorer Jesse Were scoring the opener in the 6th minute.
Despite dominating play, Lumwana managed to pull one back in the 24th minute and sat back as Zesco probed for a second goal.
A through ball in the 45th minute saw Clatous Chama outpace the defenders to run into the box and he was met by the on rushing Lumwana who clipped him with his hands for the referee to point to the spot amidst protests from the Lumwana players.
Were stepped up to take the spot kick and he managed to score but the referee ordered a retake after Chama encroached in the box.
Unfortunately, the Kenyan striker slipped as he shot the second time and the goalie was on hand to save.
The second half started on the same note with Zesco pressing for a goal while an organized Lumwana were comfortable to play on the counter.
The closest Zesco came to a goal was a shot from outside the box by Anthony Akun while Lumwana saw a shot from outside the box heading for the net saved by Jacob Banda desperately.
In Lusaka, 18 year old Joseph Phiri scored the only goal of the match when Red Arrows beat Nakambala Leopards 1 – 0.
Phiri, the boy from Kaunda square who was in the amateur ranks last season has been a revelation at Arrows and has opened his account in a the FAZ divisions.
The win sees Arrows from 11th to 7th position behind Green Buffaloes on goal difference.
This marked Nakambala’s first loss in the league in 12 games dating back to last season in September when they lost to Green Buffaloes FC.

Harder na Radiants.
I thought Zesco United were not beatable.
never heard of this ka team
THIS TEAM IS FROM NORTH WESTERN POWER. WELL DONE GUYS, WE ARE PROUD OF U
Zesco needed to be given a wake up call. You never underrate any team! Now the race is tighter with Nkana not seemingly interested in dropping any points. Its go go Zambian football. Am relishing for a day Power Dynamos can also be the hot contenders of the league, not wallowing in ultimatums every day. Ultimatums will never win you the league, preparation does. You can see the difference among the Nkana, Zesco and Power Dynamos teams. Power is way back in comparison terms.
Good lucky radiants you are making northwestern pround.keep up guyz
Am really happy for lumwana radiants.keep making us the northwesterners proud.w@ other teams shud knw i7 d@ thr r no underdogs in football.
