The Zambia Super League enters week five of action this afternoon with exciting matches taking centre stage all round.
Kabwe residents will troop to the President Stadium as Prison Leopards welcome the Bankers, Zanaco.
Albert Kachinga’s men are on a high as they are unbeaten in their last 12 matches stretching from last season and will look to continue on that trajectory.
Kachinga has named a strong squad for the match. Landu Miete is expected to be a livewire in the middle of the park with Lubinda Mundia as the target man.
Mundia scored a brace last weekend to hand the Collect Boys a 2-1 come from behind win over Buildcon away at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
David Obash has returned home and could be another impact player for Kachinga’s men.
The Bankers on the other hand in that same period have lost five games including two in the last four matches which has put pressure on Kelvin Kaindu and his technical bench.
Zanaco will be without striker Tshite Mweshi, winger Ackim Mumba and defender Isaac Shamujompa who have been ruled out of this afternoon’s match against Prison Leopards.
Ackim Mumba suffered a soft tissue injury on his right ankle on Sunday in the match against Forest Rangers. He is on treatment and expected to resume training on Monday.
Defender Isaac Shamujompa too suffered a soft tissue injury on his right knee and is on treatment. He will start training next week.
Further, striker Tshite Mweshi has an Ankle injury and is also on treatment. He is expected to be back in training next week too.
Kaindu is however hoping for a positive result despite expecting a hostile environment at the President Stadium and a tough opponent in Prison Leopards who says have been doing well.
“Our preparations are okay but the only challenge is from the last game, we have three injuries. We are coming from a loss at home but we have done well and we want to maintain that momentum of away games,” he said.
“The three players have been consistent but it’s unfortunate that they have picked up injuries. Ackim was substituted at half time , Isaac has been playing with an injury so we decided to give him a rest and Mweshi is also injured.
The most important thing is to tell the players to believe in themselves because it’s football. We have to focus on the next game and not the last but it comes with a bit of pressure especially how we lost to Forest Rangers at home.”
“It’s never been an easy ground to play at, It has been hostile for visiting teams. Prison is doing well at the moment but we have worked on that and hoping for a positive result,” he added.
Zanaco have recorded three wins in the six previous meetings between the two teams but only one if those came at President Stadium back in 2019.
The Collect Boys despite only recording one win in this fixture are unbeaten in the last three encounters against the Bankers with a win and two draws.
