Copper Queens forward Rachel Kundananji on Wednesday scored a brace as BIIK-Shymkent cruised to a 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava, a football club based in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Kundananji was in beast mode as BIIK Kazyugurt recorded an emphatic win in the new-look UEFA Women’s Champions League round 1.
Countrymate Prisca Chilufya came from the bench to score the final goal, opening her goal account in Europe’s elite competition for Women’s football. Defender Kennedy Mae Rose scored the other goal.
Kundananji has now scored four goals in Europe’s elite Women’s football competition as the top goalscorer with four goals netting against Finish side Pallokerho-35 Vantaa in 2019, Bayern Munich in 2020, and the two goals yesterday.
Former Zambia Women’s national team captain Misozi ‘CR7’ Zulu was the first Zambian female footballer to score in the UEFA Women Champions League when she scored in the 23rd minute in the BIIK Kazygurt 4-1 win over Finish side Pallokerho-35 Vantaa before Kundananji’s goal.
Next up for BIIK Kazyugurt is Glasgow City on 21st August and a win will take them to the second round.
