Konkola Blades complete double signing of Saith Sakala and Biston Banda ahead of Transitional League

Konkola Blades have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026 Transitional League season with the signings of experienced midfielder Saith Sakala and forward Biston Banda as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.

The Chililabombwe-based side confirmed on Monday that Banda has joined on a loan deal from FC MUZA until December, while Sakala arrives from Kabwe Warriors on a one-and-a-half-year contract.

The two additions underline the club’s intent to assemble a competitive squad capable of challenging in the Transitional League, with Banda expected to add creativity in midfield and Sakala bringing proven experience and goals to the attack.

In a statement announcing the arrivals, the club said: “These strategic acquisitions underline our ambition and commitment to building a competitive squad ready to fight for success.”

Banda’s move represents a significant coup for the Sharp Razors after they beat off competition from fellow MTN Super League clubs Nchanga Rangers, Green Buffaloes and Mighty Mufulira Wanderers for his signature.

The midfielder was one of FC MUZA’s standout performers last season, registering 10 goal contributions before an injury prematurely ended his campaign.

His rise to prominence began during the 2019 Transitional League, where he scored seven goals for Circuit City and established himself as one of the league’s brightest attacking talents. Following Circuit City’s relegation, Banda moved to Buildcon before later joining Power Dynamos.

He also represented Zambia at under-23 level, featuring in Beston Chambeshi’s squad at the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

For Sakala, the move marks another chapter in a career that has spanned domestic success and spells abroad.

The striker began his journey at Lusaka-based Happy Hearts before earning a move to NAPSA Stars in 2014. Two years later, he joined ZANACO and quickly became a key figure in one of the club’s most successful eras.

Sakala scored nine league goals as ZANACO stormed to the 2016 Super League title, finishing nine points clear at the summit after scoring 71 goals in 34 matches. He also helped the Bankers win the 2017 Barclays Cup and reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

His performances earned him a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Fateh on a five-year contract. After spending close to three years in the Gulf, he briefly returned to ZANACO in 2020 before embarking on another three-and-a-half-year spell in Saudi Arabia.

He joined Kabwe Warriors upon his return to Zambia before sealing his latest move to Konkola Blades.

With the additions of a proven goalscorer in Sakala and an energetic, creative midfielder in Banda, Konkola Blades have sent a clear signal of their ambitions as they prepare for the Transitional League campaign.
