Zambian football icon Kalusha Bwalya is hopeful of playing the last few minutes of the Chipolopolo legends against FC Barcelona Legends exhibition match.
The 1988 African footballer of the year has been named as the coach of the Chipolopolo legends side.
The 1996 World Footballer of the year nominee wants to create a bit of memories at Heroes Stadium having never played there, as most of his heroics where at the Independence Stadium.
Kalusha was also quick to praise the Zambian hospitality ahead of the highly anticipated match.
“I want to thank Antonio Barradas and the group for bringing Barcelona to Zambia, because Barcelona is loved around the World,” King Kalu said at a press conference held at Government Complex on Wednesday morning.
“Zambians are good hosts. We are always receiving visitors, Zambia has that personality.”
“I’m proud to be here. I feel motivated to be able to represent Zambia. King of Africa for a Job well-done. I hope I will be able to play for five minutes because I have never played in the Heroes Stadium,” he added.
Meanwhile Barcelona Legends coach Albert Llopis Ferrer confirmed that eighteen FC Barcelona Legends will come to Zambia for the match.
Most notably Ronaldo de Asis Moreira popularly known as Ronaldinho, Holland legend Patrick Stephan Kluivert, and Argentine Javier Saviola.
Saviola made 123 appearances for Barcelona scoring 49 goals while Kluivert won La Liga with Barcelona in the 1998/99 season.
Ronaldinho nicknamed the Wizard, on the other hand is an icon of the sport, and renowned for his technical skills, creativity, dribbling ability and accuracy from free-kicks, his use of tricks, feints, no-look passes and overhead kicks, as well as his ability to score and create goals, all prominent characteristics of his early-age background playing futsal.
