Zambia 0 – 1 Guinea (As it happened)

Zambia U17 coach Chris Kaunda has named a familiar side for his team’s opening game against Guinea at the CAF Championship.

Apart from new entrant Ngosa Sunzu who has replaced Changwe Kalale who injured himself in a road traffic accident, Kaunda has maintained faith in the team that played through the qualifiers.

Zambia will again be looking up to Captain Patson Daka to do the damage in front who will be supported by Pumulo Siwanga who packs a ferocious shot.

Edwin Chipile and Enock Mwepu will occupy the wide areas while master dribbler Musonda Siame will play right behind the two strikers.

With Sunzu anchoring the midfield, the experience of Prosper Chiluya and Salati Lungu will be key. The two have been impenetrable in open play.

Hope ZamFoot will be updating us on this game.

  5. We must beat this guinea and book our place at the world cup. Barcelona, man United, real Madrid have sent their spies and scouts to watch. We must shine. These European clubs prefer to buy young players that explains why our afcon 2012 failed to break into Europe.

Guinea have made three dangerous inroads into Zambia’s space but Salati Lungu and Sunzu have been alert enough to deny Guinea.

Good interplay between ‘Computer’ and Patson setting up Chipile who is hacked on the edge of the box… free kick

  8. If we lose we can forget going to the world cup. That’s the thing we overhype our boys who shine only in cosafa but fail to shine in caf. Anyhow let’s wait for the game to finish.

  9. This is the future Chipolopolo team. I have complete confidence in these boys. I believe that they will do well in the tournament!

    • Guys, it’s not over. Give them some time to recover; God forbid even if they lose it’s just one game; remember Ghana lost the first game in afcon.

  10. This is the first time that the under 17 is qualifying for this prestigious tournament. They are the best under 17 team that we have ever assembled in 50 years! They need our support!

    • Let’s just keep it at being the first to qualify to Afcon U17. For me team made by Kashimoto and Simataa in 2003 (I think) remains the best judging from their sustainability:
      1.Rabson Muchelenganga (still playing-Nkana)
      2. Pumuli Simioti (retired)
      3. Dominic Yobe (Still playing-Zanaco)
4.Mwila Kabwe (still playing-just moved from Nkana to Blades)
6.Boyd Chanda (Still playing-should be at Roan not sure)
      7. Mwape “Tozizi”Mwelwa (Still playing-Zanaco)
      8. Ignatius Lwipa (Still playing-Power)
      9. Clifford Mulenga (Still playing-Ajax SA)
      10. Rainford Kalaba (Still playing-TP Mazembe)
      1!. Nkausu (Still playing)
ETC-that’s a whole team made and 12 yrs on. Can someone tell me of any other U17 team thereafter with such sustainability

  11. @ John, cosava tornament comprises of weak teams, I dont think even South Africa or Angola take that tornament seriously, I meam what can zambia gain playing a weak team like namibia, lesotho, botswana etc,

  12. @ duncandinho call me a chameleon I never overhyped these boys I wished them luck and hoped they would go to the world cup big clubs are watching them in europe. But this start leaves much to be desired. I still have faith they can equalise. If we lose we can forget world cup Nigeria is dangerous at this level.

  13. Europe is were football is, Zambia u17 and u20 team must stay away from tp mazembe or SA league, look its no coincidence that European teams are dominating world football, the last 3 world cups were won by a european teams.

Zambia has continued putting pressure but Guinea have replied with a counter attack which Guinea’s Abdulayi has ballooned

  15. 66′ Zambia 0 – 1 Guinea
Another long drive from Enock Mwepu but goes over the bar..guinea players falling like flies trying to bring down the temple but our boys are pushing.

  16. Very frustrating indeed we need an equaliser. Kalusha is pathetic he is costing us why do our boys arrive a day before a tournament. Anyhow I’m hopeful a miracle can happen.

  17. Whether we qualify for WC or not we need to reboot Zambian football by getting rid of the administration that has no proper direction.

  18. 72′ Zambia 0 – 1 Guinea
Good move between Enock and Patson to set up Kenny Sinkala but he fluffs it and it rolls into the keepers hands.

  19. The boys gave their all. We have never been at this competition before at this level. It’s a good learning process for the young boys. Good luck to them in the next game!
