Green Buffaloes have moved to the summit of the 2021/2022 MTN Super League log table following a 2-1 win while Buildcon was handed their first loss of the season by newcomers, Kafue Celtic.
Action from the MTN/FAZ Super League continued this afternoon with three matches taking center stage.
At Nkoloma Stadium, Green Buffaloes continued their good start to the season as they beat Red Arrows 2-1. Nicholas Mulilo put the Zambia army-sponsored outfit in the lead before Felix Bulaya could grab an equalizer.
Friday Samu sealed the win with a 73rd goal from the penalty spot to make sure Buffaloes leapfrog Buildcon to go top with 10 points. Meanwhile, Red Arrows are yet to pick up a single point so far this season.
In Kabwe, The Magnificent People’s team, Kabwe Warriors welcomed record 13-time Champions, Nkana in a quest for maximum points.
The hosts got a huge numbers advantage in the first half after Obed Masumbuko was given marching orders following a second bookable offense.
The hosts could not however utilize the numbers advantage and it was, however, Nkana who managed to find the breakthrough with six minutes to go, Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga controlling well Gilroy Chimwemwe’s throw-in and beating Scot Aime Ngokene at the near post, 1-0 the match finished.
The win takes Nkana to 7th place with six points.
Elsewhere, Albert Kangwanda’s 3rd goal of the season was enough for Kafue Celtic to record their first win of the season and hand Buildcon their first loss of the season.
The loss means Buildcon surrender the top spot to Green Buffaloes while the Crocs move up to 13th place on the log with four points.
