Kamanga: We can’t hire a top notch coach because of ‘budgetary limitations’up

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has revealed that Zambia won’t have a high profile coach because of limited resources.

FAZ only has about $25,000 for an expatriate coach with government contributing around $10,000.

“We are also conscious that we do not have the luxury of hiring a coach on the top end of the market given our budgetary limitations,” Kamanga wrote on his weekly column.

“Our desire is that we should have a coach in good time before the qualifiers next year.

“We will however identify a coach who will meet our aspirations and expectations for the targets we have set out.

  1. This seems like an admission of failure by this man. You campaigned on bringing corporate sponsorship to FAZ but have failed to do so. You mean this man can’t even negotiate with some big companies in Zambia to pitch in some money for a coach? Secondly why are we not advertising this job with the current conditions to see who might be interested? Lastly find a kit sponsor because apparel contracts come with somw financial incentives that can help generate some money for FAZ. The kopa project while good is a bit under marketed to realize any tangible benefits in it’s current state. This is a very sad state of affairs and should be a lesson on who we let run our football in the country.

  2. Don’t be surprised if this FAZ administration squanders the Zambian Women’s World Cup team’s funds. They’ll show up to the World Cup with salaula kits.

  3. As the saying goes, “Local is laka”. We have been around this turn for far too long. Prudent application of resources would mean, to me, hire local coaches with the same $35,000.00, upskill them over a period of time, then we have local expertise. Low grade foreign coaches has not worked in the past 5yrs. Let’s move on and accept what we have and build on it.
