The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed legendary former player and FAZ President, Kalusha Bwalya, as the Vice Chairperson of the National Team Technical Sub-Committee.
This move marks a significant return to the FAZ fold for the 1988 African Footballer of the Year, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
Bwalya’s appointment is part of a broader shake-up of FAZ’s standing committees, with other notable appointments including football legend Kenneth “Bubble” Malitoli, who will serve alongside Bwalya on the National Team Technical Sub-Committee.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga said the appointments were made after thorough consultations with various stakeholders in the game. “The candidates were thoroughly scrutinized and deemed the best fit to add value to our game,” Kamanga said.
As Vice Chairperson of the National Team Technical Sub-Committee, Bwalya will work closely with the interim Chairperson, Keith Mweemba, to provide technical guidance and support to the Chipolopolo, Zambia’s national team.
Bwalya’s experience as a player, coach, and administrator will undoubtedly be invaluable to the committee. His appointment is seen as a positive step towards strengthening Zambia’s football infrastructure and improving the national team’s performance on the international stage.

KALU, MALITOLI HEADLINE FAZ SUB-COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced members of various standing committees that have seen the inclusion of former Association president Kalusha Bwalya and football legend Kenneth ‘Bubble’ Malitoli in the National Team Technical Sub Committee.
Former FAZ Technical Director Honour Janza will be in the Football Development Committee while the legendary Kenneth ‘Bubble’ Malitoli, Dan Kabwe and Patrick Phiri are in the National Team Technical Sub Committee.
FAZ general secretary Reuben Kamanga says the appointments arose from wider consultations with various stakeholders in the game.
Kamanga says the constituting of the committees was reflective of the expertise of the various candidates appointed.
“Following wider consultations with various football stakeholders, we wish to share the newly constituted committees that will be crucial in steering our football forward. The candidates were thoroughly scrutinised and were deemed the best fit to add value to our game,” says Kamanga.
The Referees Committee will be presided over by the respected duo of ex-referees Gladys Lengwe and Janny Sikazwe as chairperson and deputy chairperson respectively.
Kamanga says the appointments for the remaining committees will be announced in due course.
