Kalampa bags Kitwe derby bragging rights

In a highly anticipated Kitwe Derby, Nkana emerged victorious over Power Dynamos, securing a 2-0 triumph at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, with goals coming from Austin Banda and Lemisa Mousa in the 5th and 79th minutes respectively.

The keenly contested derby, played in the neutral venue, lived up to its billing as a captivating encounter as Nkana’s early opener through Austin Banda, assisted by Idris Mbombo set the tone, showcasing team composure and tactical acumen throughout the match.

Power Dynamos, despite their best efforts, were unable to find an equalizer, thanks to the backline commanded by Clement Mwape and Chitoshi Chinga, and Lemisa Mousa’s late strike sealed the deal for the victorious Nkana side.

Speaking to journalists in a post-match interview, Nkana’s Head coach Ian Bakala was full of praise for his players, crediting their hard work and determination as the driving force behind the team’s impressive 2-0 victory over bitter rivals.

“Credit goes to the players because they have been working hard since the break. It is a sweet victory, but we just have to forget this and concentrate on our next match against Zesco United,” Bakala said.

With five games remaining in the league campaign, Bakala is under no illusions about the challenges that lie ahead, acknowledging that: “All games are crucial for us, every team wants to beat Nkana, and we just have to work extra hard.”

Nkana now turn their attention to the next crucial clash against Zesco United which will played at Nkana Stadium.

The Kitwe Derby, which had been anticipated for weeks across the country, was a fiercely contested affair, with passionate fans from both sides packing the stands in Ndola.
