Chipolopolo legend Rainford Kalaba has been discharged from the University Teaching Hospital, the Health facility has confirmed.
According to a statement by Nzeba Chanda, UTH-Adult, Public Relations Officer, Kalaba has been sent home to continue his recovery at the family home.
“Mr. Rainford Kalaba has been discharged from the UTH-Adult where he was admitted after being involved in a road traffic accident two weeks ago.
Today marks exactly 14 days from the time of his admission.
He is going to recuperate at his family home.”
The 37-year-old was a passenger in a Mercedes Benz when it collided with an oncoming truck in the south-eastern Zambian town of Kafue a week and five days ago.
Kalaba spent the majority of his club career at TP Mazembe winning the CAF Champions League with the club in 2015 and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2016.
The Afrisport product also had a spell in Portugal.
Kalaba was also a major part of the Chipolopolo squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 under Frenchman Herve Renard.
