DR Congo giants TP Mazembe have confirmed the departure of former Chipolopolo captain, Kabaso Chongo.
He leaves the Ravens after a ten year stay at the club. Chongo has already been linked with a move back to the MTN Super League.
He is set to join MTN Super League side, Kabwe Warriors when the league resumes.
āAt the end of his contract on September 30, Kabaso CHONGO, 32 years old, will not extend his lease with TPM. The central defender leaves the Temple after 10 years and notably a coronation of the Champions League (2015), two in the Confederation Cup (2016 and 2017) and 5 Congolese championship titles.
Discovered on October 15, 2013 during the Brazil-Zambia friendly match played in China, Kabaso CHONGO arrived at TPM as a right back in 2014. It was only two years later that he made major appearances this time as a left back for away matches in the Confederation Cup during the Hubert VELUD era. The Zambian international will make his definitive mark in 2017 as a central defender, demonstrating a great state of mind.
The club responded favourably today to the transfer request from the Zambian club Kabwe Warriors. He thanked the player for what he gave to the Badiangwenas. CHONGO’s name will forever be remembered by all supporters for his prowess when he was at the height of his glory.ā
