Former TP Mazembe defender Kabaso Chongo is expected to lead the Zambia National Team defense this afternoon as they open their account at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
The Chipolopolo take on 2015 winners DR Congo in their opening at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
The experienced ZESCO United defender will be expected to bring experience and leadership at the back as Avram Grant eyes a positive start to the campaign.
Chongo is expected to be partnered by either Power Dynamos defensive kingpin, Dominic Chanda or Killian Kanguluma. Chongo and Chanda are the likely partnership this afternoon at the heart of defense.
Kanguluma however made a solid partnership with Chongo at Kabwe Warriors and Grant may look to replicate that at the National team.
ZESCO United’s Benedict Chepeshi is expected to start at right back with Nkana’s Mathews Banda also available for selection.
At left back, Kebson Kamanga and John Chishimba will battle it out for the slot.
