Former Copper Queens skipper Kabange Mupopo has expressed happiness with her return to the team’s set up after an eight year absence.
The Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club forward feels her returning to the team is a very special thing.
Mupopo says she had to put in a lot of work to make sure she made a return to the squad.
āIt makes me feel very good. I have been away for a long time so coming back is a very special time,ā she said.
āI have put in a lot because I know these games that we will be playing are tough games. Everyone wants to qualify for the Olympics so you have to put in a lot. I have done my best and am still doing so.ā
Mupopo believes the standard of Women’s Football in Zambia has improved since she last played for the Copper Queens.
Zambia start their Olympics qualifier against Ghana away and Mupopo wants the team to start with a win and finish off the Black Queens at home.
āEveryone can see that the standard has gone up, everyone is putting in their best,ā she said.
āIt’s all about discipline, hard work and putting in the best. That’s what I am telling my teammates as senior players and encouraging everyone to do their best.ā
āIt’s a must win, We will be playing away. We just have to get a win so that when we come home we are safe,ā she added.
Ghana will host Zambia, in the 1st leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, February 23, before returning to Ndola for the return leg on Wedneday, February 28, 2024.
