Junior flames not scared of big names, Target win and clean sheet

Malawi U23 national team Coach Meke Mwase says him and his players are not afraid of the big names in the Zambia U23 national team for this afternoons Egypt 2019 U23 AFCON second round first leg qualifier.

Mwase in an interview with the Football Association of Malawi official Website (FAM.MW) said he had encouraged his boys to make their own names.

“We are not afraid of the big-name players in the Zambian squad. We have encouraged our boys to work hard as this is also time for them to make names,” he said.

Coach Beston Chambeshi has named a strong U23 side including Redbull Salzburg duo of Striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu. Others are Emmanuel Banda of AS Beziers in France and Fashion Sakala of KV Oostende in Belgium.

Mwase went on to say his team are looking at keeping a clean sheet and beating the junior copper Bullets.

“We are looking forward to a win and ensure we don’t concede. We appreciate the support that our fans give us and we urge them to come in large numbers and support the boys as they are the future of Malawian football,” said Mwase.

Malawi host Zambia this afternoon at the Kamuzu Banda Stadium before travelling to Lusaka four days later.

  1. I will give it to the Malawi coach. At least he recognizes that man for man Zambia are way superior so this will make him focus on team work if they are to get anything in this game.

As for our lads, there should b absolutely no spirit of underrating Malawi. Our senior National team has left us in tears and we have run out of tears now so we cant be crying anymore. Go out there lads and make us proud.
