Jani Sikazwe storms AFCON finals

Zambian referee Jani Sikazwe has been named as the fourth official for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final between Ghana and Ivory Coast.

Sikazwe who has been outstanding at the tournament was beaten to the referee’s position by Gambia’s Bakary Gassama who also handled the match between Ivory Coast and Algeria.

Gassama will be assisted by Djibril Camara (Senegal) and Waleed Ali (Sudan) who will be first and second assistants respectively.

Sikazwe made his Nations Cup debut at the 2012 edition held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

He followed up his good performance with another appearance at the 2013 AFCON tournament where he came back with a bronze medal after being part of the officiating team that handled the third and fourth place play-off between Mali and Ghana.

  1. @john, kalu is keeping the pathetic janza because he also wants someone he can control. its disapointing wat level we hav fallen to. a coach doesnt make it out of the group stage and hes given a contract?

  2. This is according to the Post Sports Page – Zambian players for you

CHIPOLOPOLO vice-captain Nathan Sinkala is contemplating a move to an unnamed Chinese club. The TP Mazembe player has just completed a six months loan at Swiss club Grasshopper. Sinkala said Grasshopper had offered to give him another contract although he was pushing to go to China. “Grasshopper want to sign me for a long term-contract, so is the Chinese club. I am pushing to go to China,” Sinkala said. If Sinkala’s move to China succeeds, he will become the latest Zambian player to join the Chinese league this year after Stoppila Sunzu left French club Sochaux to join Super League side Shanghai Shenshua, and Jacob Mulenga joined Shijiazhuang Yongchang. James Chamanga also plays for Chinese side Liaoning Whowin. Meanwhile, Sinkala said the knee injury he sustained during Chipolopolo’s AfCON Group B opening fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo could hamper his move to China. “Both clubs want to sign me on a long-term contract. But the problem is the clubs want to know how long I will be out,” he said. Sinkala revealed that he would be travelling to South Africa to see a specialist over the injury. Sinkala was ruled out of action for four weeks after limping off the pitch in the match which ended 1-all.
