2011 Champions, Power Dynamos beat NAPSA Stars 2-0 on Tuesday, thanks to two early goals in a rescheduled week 22 Super League encounter at the MTN, Woodlands Stadium.
Godfrey Ngwenya opened the scores in the second minute with a brilliant goal before Kennedy Musonda could add a second goal and seal the win just 12 minutes into the match.
Power Dynamos boss Perry Mutapa alluded the win to the hard work the players and the technical bench are putting in during training.
“I think we have been working very hard a big congratulations to the coaches, we pleased with the first goal it was a marvel to watch as we have been working for such goals in the past week big congratulations to coach Matsauso, and as a coach, you feel very nice when what you are working for is achieved,” Mutapa told the ZamFoot Crew.
“I think there are better teams than power Dynamos because some of the teams have reinforced during the window period even in march which is not even a window period to players who are out of contract they have signed so for us is to take each game as it comes,” He added.
Mutapa also mentioned that his side is hoping to find a good goal poacher as he believes that winning comfortably is at 3-4 goals.
Meanwhile, NAPSA Stars head coach Mohamed Fathi felt the loss was due to concentration lapses from his team especially that Continental football is around the corner.
“We didn’t perform well today we allowed early goals silly goals, I think the concentration shifts to Sunday game, we have had this experience before the team most times does not perform well before a Continental game but in a continental game its different story,” he said.
Fathi feels the absence of his captain Dickson Chapa who was shown a red card again Buildcon football club was felt.
“I think the Red card, the one we have, also Daniel Adoko just came from injury so this is why we are not stable in the defense and also our goalkeeper, cause Philip Banda only played one game, Muchelen’ganga is injured but we will try to balance ourselves. I think the next game will be much better than this one, Jimmy Mukeya also came from a funeral after losing his mother,” he said.
The win takes Abayellow to third place on the log with 34 points and maintaining a three-match winning streak while NAPSA Stars remains in 13th place.
Next up for the Pensioners is a CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash against Cameroonian outfit, Cotton Sport.
