Injury knocks Frankie Musonda and Fashion out of Israel friendly match

Scottish based duo of defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda and striker Fashion Sakala Jnr will miss Thursday’s FIFA international friendly match against Israel.

Zambia National team doctor Wesley Ngongo confirmed the development in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew.

Both Sakala and Musonda missed their team’s League games over the weekend due to knocks.

“So basically all the players called managed to report for camp and are in good health. They are all ready to participate in the upcoming international friendly match against Israel,” he said.

“However there two players Fashion Sakala Jnr and Frankie Chisenga Musonda have not reported, yes they were called but after consultations with their teams medical staff it was found that they are injured. After further discussions with the medical teams at their individual clubs and the players themselves we decided that the best course of action was for them to complete their recovery at their bases and undergo rehabilitation so that they can come back stronger.”

With Sakala out of the match, Stand-In coach Moses Sichone will look to Leicester City forward Patson Daka and Simba hitman Moses Phiri to lead the attack.

In defense, the absence of Frankie Chisenga Musonda leaves Sichone with Tandi Mwape, Dominic Chanda, Stoppilla Sunzu and Luka Banda for his central defensive pairing.

Zambia will be using Thursday’s match to prepare for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that resume in March next year.
