Danish based forward Edward Chilufya had been ruled out of CAF 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Zambia host Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on June 17, 2023 on match day 1.
The Midtjylland forward has been left out of Avram Grant’s 29 man squad for the AFCON qualifier.
“He hasn’t been dropped. He picked up an injury a few days ago and missed his club’s last match,” Chilufya’s close ally told the ZamFoot Crew.
The 23 year old Kasama native was part of the Chipolopolo squad which recorded back to back wins over Lesotho in the last international break.
Following Lameck Banda’s impressive performance against Lesotho, Chilufya has dropped down the pecking order.
Captain Lubambo Musonda and Fashion Sakala are Grant’s preferred wingers with Lameck Banda trying to force his way into the starting line up.
Chilufya is yet to replicate his Zambia Under-20 performance to the senior national team.
Since transferring from Swedish side Djurgardens, he has been a bit by player in Denmark.
