Indeni re-appoint Dabid Chilufya as head coach

Indeni Football club has reappointed Dabid Chilufya as their head coach barely nine months after parting ways.

The club confirmed the development in a statement by Media and Communications Manager Chellah Sikazwe which was made available to the ZamFoot Crew.

Indeni Football Club (IFC) takes this opportunity to notify its stakeholders the appointment of Dabid CHILUFYA as MANAGER (HEAD COACH) effective immediately. This appointment has been done in the interest of ensuring that the ambitions and aspirations of the team are revived and sustained for the remainder of the 2021/2022 Super League season and beyond.

Indeni Football Club statement

“This appointment follows the conclusion of the recruitment process by the technical committee. The process was in progress resulting from the resignation of Mwenya Chipepo in October this year.”

The Former Sensational Zanaco and Chipolopolo assistant coach came out as a favorite to take over the job after the departure of Mwenya Chipepo who made a return to Arthur Davies Stadium.

“It is important to note that, Dabid CHILUFYA came out as a favorite in the recruitment, which was done in line with the team’s professional, technical and managerial expectations for the position. We are confident that he is a man to bring about the necessary morale, motivation, discipline, determination, and the focus for results we need. These are qualities, we saw a decline in but are very cardinal for success. The club was concerned that the performance was more of a routine, more or less like playing to fulfill the fixture rather than playing for competition. There is a need for mindset change. This is by not waiting for results but creating them ourselves. We MUST start winning and collecting vital points. It must start immediately.”

Indeni Football Club President, Stephen Lilongwe believes Chilufya’s familiarity with the club will make it easy to hit the ground running.

“Dabid Chilufya has been with the team before. He is well aware of the club’s Philosophy. His orientation on return is just a single visit to the stadium and we are back to our determined ways as a team,” Lilongwe said.

Chilufya will be assisted by Frank MITI, Chanda MWAPE, Steven TEMBO, Allan CHIBWE and other members of the Backroom staff.

Dabid Chilufya’s left Indeni on a reported ‘mutual separation’ just 48 hours after he publicly criticized his players for giving away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Forest Rangers and threatened to quit.

I have reached a limit for now because I cannot continue to coach a team that is just limited in thinking

Chilufya helped Indeni to win promotion to the Super Division last year after replacing Matthews Ndhlovu earlier in May 2020.
