Idris Ilunga Mbombo is ZamFoot player of the week

The MTN/FAZ Super League over the weekend brought us nine entertaining and mouth watering encounters of the tenth week of the 2018 season.

As is now tradition the Zamfoot crew have picked the team of the week consisting of the best performing players from last weekend.


GK-Fred Silwamba – The Green Buffaloes goal minder made a number of super-saves to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season. Silwamba who recently lost his father dedicated the one nil win over National Assembly to his late dad.

LB-Lyson Thole – The Kabwe Warriors left back made a number of crucial interceptions and was good going forward and nearly got a goal back for the Kabwe based out-fit.

Special Mention – Veteran Joseph Musonda (Nkana Fc) had a very good game and assisted one of Mbombo’s goals.

RB-Kebby Kamanga – The Nkwazi youngster has continued to put in Impressive performances which even earned him a national team call up recently. Sunday was no different as he was at his best to help Nkwazi keep a clean sheet and beat Nchanga Rangers by a lone goal.

CB- Faustin Bokandila -The Power Dynamos defender was calm and collected from the on set and helped Power earn a draw against Zanaco.

Special Mention – Billy Mutale made a number of inceptions after coming for young Kondwani Chiboni.

CB-Lazarus Muchinga – The Green Buffaloes midfielder replaced Moonga Chilimba just after 34 minutes and played a big role to help Buffaloes keep a clean sheet. The Sporting Lusaka FC product gave a very good account of himself despite being a midfielder.

DMF -Patrik Ilongo – The Forest Rangers midfielder had a near 100% pass rate as he co-ordinated play for Fole Malembe.

MF- Simon Nkhata – Once again he had his passing game on point for Napsa Stars despite the disappointing goalless draw.

Special Mention: Austin Muwowo had a wonderful game despite his poor finishing letting him down.

MF- Larry Bwalya – The Power Dynamos midfielder scored a wonder goal and had a some great passes one of which nearly earned him an assist but Kennedy Mudenda fluffed his lines.

Special Mention: William Njobvu put in another wonderful perfomance but was slightly edged out by Larry for team of the week.

LF-John Mark Makwatta – The Buildcon attacker was easily the game changer as he came on to score the only goal of the game and earn Buildcon three vital points.

Special Mention: Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba has a good game for Warriors.

RF – Dickson Kashitu – The man from Nakambala Leopards gave Joseph Ochaya a day to forget as he tormented him at will. Ochaya rarely made his usual overlapping runs on the day because of Kashitu.

CF-Idris Ilunga Mbombo – The Congolese striker netted twice to end Kabwe Warriors’ eight game unbeaten run and help Nkana to climb up to third on the log.

Player of the week

Idris Ilunga Mbombo , The brace he scored ended his former teams unbeaten run and sent Nkana third on the table. Mbombo was easily the best player from week ten.

Coach of the week

Beston Chambeshi, The 2017 U20 AFCON winner masterminded the end of Kabwe warriors unbeaten run and their first home loss. Nkwazi coach Chris Kaunda and Perry Mutapa came in close.

  1. Kabwe Warriors left fullback has the attributes required in that position for the national team…pure natural talent with good crosses. What’s his age Kabwe people?
