I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM FAZ- MINISTER OF SPORT

The Minister of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga says the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has not communicated to him or his office concerning the appointment of Serbian trainer Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

Mulenga who was speaking at his office during a press conference says he has not received any correspondence from FAZ. The ministry has to ratify the appointment of the coach before FAZ can go ahead and unveil him.

“It has been reported in the media that FAZ has recruited a coach and recommended to the ministry to consent. Our position as a ministry and this office are that I have not received any recommendation, I have not received any correspondence that they have finished the process and they have settled on a coach,” he said.

Mulenga went to say he last met FAZ officials or spoke to them last October and went through the incoming mail book to check but FAZ has yet to send any mail to his office.

The Chipolopolo top job fell vacant last February following the departure of Belgian trainer Sven Vandenbroeck and the former Orlando Pirates boss is expected to take over after peeping former Mozambique coach and Portugal International Abel Xavier and Ivan Jacky Minnaert of Belgium to the Chipolopolo top job.

“As a ministry, we have professional ethics that guide our decisions and our conduct. We can only respond from correspondence from FAZ, I can only make a comment on the coach once I receive correspondence from FAZ,” he said.

” The last time I talked to FAZ was last year on 1st October, I went through the incoming mail book to check if probably they had brought in any letter or correspondence but as I speak with you there is nothing,” he added.

Micho who qualified Uganda to the 2017 AFCON, Their first time in 38 year has reportedly been offered a two-year contract.

The Football Association of Zambia also revealed that they will top up a $15,000 on Government’s $10,000 to take his salary to $25,000.

The appointment of the Serbian gaffer will only come into effect after the ministry of Sport approves it

  1. That sounds familiar. Kalu also used the same answer regarding the invitation by FAZ for him to sit on the panel interviewing the coach. Are you telling me mail sent by FAZ never reaches anyone ?

  2. There is a problem between FAZ and this minister. Why cant he contact FAZ and inform directly instead he goes to the media. This is rubbish. Foooolish minister playing mind games just to appear as though he is relevant

Johnstone has been unwell since 2016. He is sick, probably even mentally. He is homeless and has no documentatiGMon of any sort.

Home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo went to Switzerland to get him but couldn’t manage because he has no papers not even Zambian a Passport.

They made a passport for him from here but the years differed and it couldn’t work. Kampyongo is organizing a correct passport for him to be brought back to Zambia.
Even his young brother Claude Bwalya now at Choma Eagles has no communication with the man.

  4. I think the minister needs to chill. At this point we can’t have this cat and mouse game going on. If FAZ erred, work that out behind closed doors and let’s move on. We need a coach like yesterday and can’t afford these type of political games. FAZ needs to find their own source of funding to pay the coach, this should be a lesson for them

  5. This is what has resulted into Zambia not to qualify to the Africa again, why? Because of poor planning. World Cup qualifications are around the corner but all you continue doing is to argue and at the end find no lasting solution for senior Chipololopolo national team. When are you going to plan for the betterment of whatever we want to see achievements in. Stop arguing and find where anyone made a mistake so that the lasting solution is found. We will not blame the Senior National team for their loses but you leaders for your poor leadership. Failure to plan is planning to fail. Wake up and do something to revive the mighty Senior Chipololopolo National Team and the entire football in Zambia. Thank you.
