How the players abroad faired…. (14/02/2016)

Ronald Kampamba continues to slowly make a claim in the Lierse team as he again came off the bench for a second successive game when his team Lierse lost 3 – 1 to 3rd placed White Star Bruxell in the Belgian second division. Kampamba came in with the two teams locked at 1 – 1 in the 82nd minute but Bruxell scored two late goals in the 83rd and 89th minutes.

In South Africa, Davies Nkausu was named in the Free State Stars team that lost away to Jomo Cosmos while Mwape Musonda was an unused substitute in Golden arrows 2 – 1 away win over Polokwane City.

Kennedy Mweene did not play for Mamelodi Sundown in their 1- 0 Champions League game loss to Chicken Inn of Zimbabwe.

Bornwell Mwape came off the bench in the 68th minute as Amazulu lost 3 – 1 to Mbombela United in the National First Division. He was unlucky to see his shot scrambled off the line by the United keeper late in the match. Allan Mukuka was not named on the bench.

Rogers Kola was not named in the Veria team that played to a goalless draw against Atromitos in the Greek premier league. Veria are now in relegation zone with 23 points from 22 games having only managed 5 wins in the season.

In Portugal Moses Phiri has moved close to making his debut for Academico Viseu after he made the bench in their 2 – 2 draw against Benefica II in the Portugues second division. Lineker Mwikisa has not yet been cleared to play.

Emmanuel Mayuka may not have started off on the right footing with Zamalek’s interim coach as he was not named on the bench in the Egyptian giant’s 1 – 1 draw against Wadi Degla.

Patrick Ngoma was back in training with his team on Saturday after he returned to his base at Al Ittihad following a brief visit home which saw him miss his team’s last game. Al Ittihad play on Tuesday.

Noah Chivuta is still on preseason with his Thailand club Nakhon Ratchasima and was in action on Sunday in a preseason friendly match against Khon Kaen United which ended 2 – 0 in favor of Chivuta’s.

Chisamba Lungu and his Ural team mates are in Cyprus for their pre-season and they beat Serbian league leaders srvenoy stars 2 – 1. Chisamba did not play.

Lubambo Musonda also continues to shape out in the preseason with his team moving camp to Krasnodar in Russia where they play a friendly tomorrow, Monday.

  1. On a sad note, coach Fighton “Big Figh” Simukonda has passed away.
He passed away this morning 15th February 2016 at Konkola Mine Hospital in Chililabombwe.
In 2009 he became the first coach to lead a Zambian Club (Zesco United ) to the CAF champions league group stage.
He will surely be missed for his contribution to football. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

  2. I feel so sad.He was a good man and player.Always will be remembered for the contributing and dedicating his life to Zambian football from 80s to y2k16.mhsrip

  3. Eish the performance of our abroad players leaves a lot to be desired. It’s now like a distant dream to hear of a Zambian player commanding a first team spot anywhere outside of Zambia.
By the way were is that blogger that keeps posting about how we are the best team in Africa, I was waiting for a foreign player update to school the blogger a little bit on how we are struggling in producing top quality players.
Anyway it’s not all doom and gloom. Kalaba, Kalengo, Mbesuma are at least shinning in Africa. Chisamba and Mbola are at least representing well outside of Africa.

  4. MHSRIEP.We appreciate all that he did for the country.Thoughts and prayers for his family. On a football note, no news from the guys at TP?

    • We’ll hear from TPMzambians on Wed 17th when TP and Lupopo meet in the Lubumbashi derby. Chongo plays regularly, lately filling in for TP’s captain in central defence; Singuluma has played the last 3 games and banging in goals as well. Sinkala has also featured, sometimes coming in as a sub and Kalaba, who resumed training late after the Jan transfer window played, scored in their last derby Lubumbashi Sport. Sakuwaha is yet to play; so the lads are doing fine and the new coach must be proud to have them.

Charly Musonda Jr scored his first goal against Deportivo ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H9mVg6zEGU. He was involved in the build up and then was there to finish it with a clinical header.

  5. Big Steve 4rm SA, Man I am here with you. And I still have the post here. You reiterated my points by mentioning those key players. These are the players that can make the difference in matches.

Zambia boys on fire presently mbesuma leading goal scorer, kalengo leading goal scorer in his new league, singuluma scoring, kalaba too scoring. Our players are presently in the best form of their careers.
And I will keep on saying it, Zambia is arguably the best football country in Africa now. Africa’s best talents are now in zambia, no team in Africa can stand the almighty chipolopolo. YES you heard that right no team.

Mbesuma, kalengo, kalaba,Singuluma, ever-green katongo and even Mayuka plus the young upcoming and developing stars we have now, we will rule Africa for the next 10 years. No team presently in Africa can boast of the same number of talents mother Zambia have.

2017 AFCON is for us and no team can stop us from going to 2018 WORLD CUP.

    Ivory coast can’t, Nigeria can’t , Ghana won’t dare, Cameroon can’t, Algeria can’t.

    • Mbesuma, kalengo, kalaba,Singuluma and katongo…are players who are clearly more efficient attacking from the left…just observe their goals. It’d take a more than average coach to find a suitable tactical combination that would get the best of having these players in one team. I don’t see Lwandamina getting it right.

    • Jonstin, I will continue to sigh at these observations. Having a bunch of players scoring, especially without balance. Look at the people you are mentioning. Zambia has no fullbacks right now, aside from Sinkala there are no midfielders who are anywhere above average, don’t even get me started on someone to partner Sunzu, or even the goalkeeper.

There is no balance in the National team. Too many positions remain vacant and like Kampinda has said; Lwandamina is just not the man to rebalance this team. I will believe your sentiments when we start beating teams like Lesotho in Lesotho, or Ethiopia in Ethiopia, right now we are just not as good as you want to make us believe.

Let me point out a historical example of misplaced optimism based on player form. In the 2002 world cup, France had the 3 top goalscorers in Europe; Thiery Henry (England), Trezeguet (Serie A, Italy) and Djibril Cisse (Ligue 1, France). They were knocked out in the first round of the World Cup. They scored 0 goals including a loss to Senegal and Denmark.

So your logic does not hold water. There is no denying the talent to be good is there, maybe even great, but its going to take a whole lot more than just having players peaking in the league. There is work to be done, and the sooner bloggers like you know that then maybe FAZ and all the other stakeholders can understand that as well.

    • Lets not get ahead of ourselves, we do not have the best players in Africa. Yes we have a few talents, but as a team we are way back. We still need to re-organise. Besides, most powerhouse on African cont. seem to have a large pool of young upcoming talents except us.

    • Your’re right.Btw,age is slowly catchingup with most of these guys we solely depend on.There’s need to unearth new talents, for continuation and team-building sakes.

  6. By the way, how on earth is a big team like Sundowns losing to a team like Chicken Inn?

What is going on with the South African league? They just don’t seem to fair well in the Champions League, yet the team boasts a collection of massive talent.

  7. KUlushas says Zambian football is on the upswing, and that we r the envy of other African countries. Well he is just bluffing his way to football house. He hasn’t a clue how to raise standards of our game. But with our football clubs administrations replete with illiterates and dunderheads Kalu will continue selling tickets on the side and replica jerseys from questionable sources.

  8. Ok Zambia is the best team in Africa with emerging talents. We hv heard u. Do u know the number of Ghanaian players winning goal kings in Egypt yet in Ghana they never mk the National team.So a player scoring in Congolese team is the best? am laughing haha

  9. Ghana defender Baba Rahman has been named among the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week for this midweek after excelling for Chelsea in their game against PSG.
The Blues left-back had an excellent game even though his English side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the French giants in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League.
The former Kotoko defender was handed a role at left-back lasted the entire duration of the game to global applause for his showing in the game.
As a result of that Baba has been named among the best eleven players to play in Europe’s flagship club competition.
The former Augsburg defender was close in assisting Chelsea’s opener in the 18th minute after sending in a cross to Spanish attacker Diego Costa only for the latter’s header to be tipped away by the PSG goalkeeper.
The Ghanaian international played a nice one-two with Willian before sending in a cross from the left hand side which almost got Chelsea the lead.
The 22-year-old maintained his composure at the back by keeping away PSG danger man Angel Di Maria in most part of the game.
His excellent surging run in the 79th minute saw him being fouled by Lucas Mora who had no option than to bring the defender down after the Ghanaian found his way past his opponent.
Baba received a pass from Willian before outwitting Mora only for the Brazilian to pull him down on the edge of the penalty box.
His performance was however not enough to help his side avoid defeat at the Parc de Princes in Paris

  10. COACH LET KENNEDY MUNDENDA ALEX NGONGA BILLY MUTALE AND CHUNGU BE PART OF THE NATION TEAM IF U DONT DO WHAT AM SAY U WILL SEE WHEN HOW MARK MY ON TEAM.
