Herve Renard leaving Ivory Coast for Lille?

Herve Renard is set to leave the stage with audience clapping as he plans to exit the Ivory Coast national team coaching job, the team he led to the gold at the the 2015 tournament.

Renard has reportedly reached an agreement to become Lille’s manager from next season.

Les Dogues are out of contention for a European place following their 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Marseille on Saturday evening.

According to L’Equipe, Lillte and current coach Rene Girard have mutually agreed to end his contract, with Girard to bow out after taking charge of their final game of the season at Metz.

However, Renard is said to have already begun contacting potential summer signings.

It is thought that Renard has agreed a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit.

The Frenchman also led Zambia to the first Africa Cup of Nations gold and later coached at Ligue 1 side Sochaux where he pulled three Zambian players with him.

  1. Congratulations Renard. Don’t worry about a few serial killer haters in Zambia. The majority of Zambia loves you! All the best.

  2. Lubambo musonda, Sunzu and chisamba lungu for me can make it at lille. I’m not sure if Renard will gamble on Mayuka. Mayuka certainly has to leave southampton though.

    • u don’t like HR’s managerial skills so all his signings wil be a flopp according to u,, so pliz don’t comments.

  3. I recommend Sunzu and lubambo musonda as definite buys for lille. Rainford kalaba is another who should really consider playing at least 2 seasons in France before hanging up his boots.

    • you don’t like HR’s managerial skills so even his players are wake,,swallow your hmble pies and appreciate HR boss,,, u are so bitter about HR just like Mrs Mumbi Phiri, PF deputy SG,

  4. this guy is very ambitious, he is leaving the sexy team. with this mind set, he will one day end up managing the best of the world. but if anything goes wrong were he is heading, xenophobe nation will call for him.

  5. Stop recommending players to Renard. He’s won Afcon twice in three years and he’s smart enough to know which players to look at. You’ve called this guy all sorts of names and now you want some favours from him? I thought you were vindicated!

  6. Eish and this is happening just after Sunzu makes a move to China. I bet Sunzu is kicking himself a little right now.

So people with proper football minds continue to see that this guy is a good coach were as some people on this blog…eish…need I say more?

We had a gem of a coach who has proved that his 2012 Afcon win was no fluke like some bloggers called it.

All the best HR but if you are reading this, you once said your heart was with Zambia, so prove it by signing one of our boys, at the very least Lubambo.

  7. @ big Steve Sunzu can still go to lille in the July transfer window. I don’t think there is an issue he would have been in China more than 6 months and entitled to move if he pleases.

  8. It is not even a question of Herve Renard favoring zambia. I disagree. He actually rose to stardom with zambia. A lot of players that put him on the map today are zambian. So Renard signing Sunzu or lubambo is not a favor to any zambian. Sunzu is a player who has proved himself and him going to lille has nothing to do with Renard doing him any favor. Players like Sunzu and lubambo are supposed to be in europe anyway.

  9. You would be surprised that the very same zambian players who made Herve Renard who he is today may well make him famous in europe. Is it not Sunzu who was scoring so many goals at Sochaux? It is not a favor to any zambian. I still don’t rate Renard highly anyhow.

    • you don’t like HR’s managerial skills so even his players are wake,,swallow your hmble pies and appreciate HR boss,,, u are so bitter about HR just like Mrs Mumbi Phiri, PF deputy SG,…u are a bitter man, u need to give credit where its due,,,ebuntu…u need to change you pathetic behavior to say the least..

  10. You zambians are so funny. Now you are recommending players for the coach. Is this not the same coach you called Clueless, always riding on luck.
Bringing players to a club is not that easy, that is why we have the transfer market to select from a pool of players. Will he gets 1 or 2 of your players?
Remember he is just leaving Ivory coast, he must have quite a number of players there too.

  11. Is this the end of Patrice ‘s sangwapo or what?I don’t think he will follow his boss renard this time.Patrice must show the world that he can also do it.our players should also improve their game not chipante pante kind of football we are watching in our local league

      • Chipante pante??????? Which league?????? Try cleaning your glasses before watching a game on TV or I recommend try going to the stadium and watch the games and not wait for poor quality ZNBC News clips

  12. Zambian players have shown in the past that they don’t need someone to campaign for them to clinch professional deals. I doubt they need any help from someone who clearly needs help to understand how football works. Zambian players are way above that level. Do not underrate them the way you underrated Renard. Ma labish

  13. Sunzu deserves to be in europe no favors here. Badosqi there are west African defenders in europe that have done much less and they are in europe. Why are you questioning Zambians who want Sunzu in europe?

  14. So who is blocking Sunzu from playing in Europe? Last time I checked it was Sunzu himself who opted to leave France. Stop showcasing your ignorance.

  15. If only you could present your views with a sober mind many bloggers on this site would take you seriously. Nothing personal here. I just wish that someone with such love for zambian football like yourself could be a bit more sensible and constructive.

    • Mukuka Mulenga is failing to establish himself as a big player in the PSL…I doubt he will tick in Europe.

We don’t want bench warming or sitting in the stands players in Europe anymore, its because of the failure of players like Mayuka that scouts wont be too interested in looking at Zambian players. We should now advocate for those players that will make a mark should they go to Europe. If Mukuka cant tick in a small league that is already sign enough that the big leagues are still out of his league.

      • Big Steve never mind them with hyping Zambian players that are very very average! The earlier we accepted that our players need to do more than having skill and a bit of talent the better!

  16. Paddy just stick to the issue. If youve noticed i dont rate renard as a great coach but i no longer attack him. I stick to the issue. same thing you should do. What im trying to say is that sunzu is not being done any favor if renard recommends him to lille.

    • “he is,y are big teams not wanting him, coz its the pathetic coach who wants him as he has no stratehy” by John , coz that’s wat u say.

  17. this club is big brothers, rena needs players that can deliver immediately. If i had a way, i would recommend chisamba. Sinkala is not fit, sunza has jst moved, mayuka needs time, kalaba i dont kno if he is willing 2 fro leave congo.

  18. Ok lets leave John alone. I think the tone of his input todays indicates that he is gradually understanding that HR is not as useless as he first perceived him to be.

  19. We can only hope HR sees the need to look at signing some Zambian players. He has been out of touch with them for a while and does not know their form right now and too add to that Lille is a rather big club who can just about sign some of the biggest names in the game. Lets hope after all the praise he heaped on Sunzu he can again see it worth the clubs money to bring him on board again.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and also hope some of the players also make the effort to call him up and see if there is an opportunity there.

  20. I think he has better chances of finding quality in Ivory Coast and Ghana than dwelling on players he worked with 3 years ago in Zambia who don’t seem to be making any any strides in their game. In fact there is rumor that he is looking at two Ghanaian players. For now lets be content with the average players we have.A proven good player cannot go to China at his peak!

    • Sense, these analysts/fans have over stayed on this site (Small Steve, John, Seen from bla bla bla, Kay Hammer, Mulenga Pulu and their click of west African jokers), just as they claim Kalu has over stayed at FAZ. They too must go (or just read and make no comments. We know them, in Bemba we call them bamuselela kwakaba!

  21. I think this is a chance for Zambia to bring back Patrice so that he can assist Janza to mould a better team as two heads are better than one!. FAZ should learn to pay for services people offer, it’s time we have business minded people running FAZ , maybe Kalusha do not have the right materials to assist him.

  22. Big Steve is very right on mukuka. That boy can’t make it in lille. At the moment Renard can only consider Sunzu, kalaba, chisamba and lubambo musonda. These are the only boys that can play for lille.

  23. Kwena you guys the way you are coming out like HR has gone to your team and busy pointing out our soo average unambitiuos players to that big European team. All the mentioned players with unexception of Kalaba, again who I feel at that age it is not easy for any European teams to look at him,are not or can not play at that level.Sunzu, who goes to pension leagues before you make your name,so sad please let us first put our dreams in reality not just dreaming all the time.

  24. Zambians are not hungry for success that is why we are praising someone who just buys a Bently which starts depreciating the moment he leaves the show room, just look at that number 9 for Nigeria U20 ruthless and prolific ,he destroyed both our U20 and U23 but dude was nowhere to be seen for me those are boys who are serious with what they want or is it beacause these boys ,our local stupid cnfortable with having a spacious or Noah and now Continenal Bently lads, have no role models as in local ones.

  25. Just so we remember he’ll have a bigger budget at Lille than he had at Sochaux, he will have the luxury of looking at buying players from within League one (France), across Europe and from other continents. Bottom line is he’ll have a wider market from which to rope in players. It’s up to infidivial players to prove their worth. Reynard will want to correct his cv after going through the humiliation of relegation at Sochaux. Moreover not every club gives their coaches the freedom to bring in whoever they want.
