With the week 9 games played during the past weekend, the league is way past the quarter mark and Power Dynamos hit-man Jimmy Ndhlovu leads the top scorers chart on 5 goals.
The league has already seen 130 goals scored with 88 different scorers. This has translated to 1.94 goals scored in each game played so far.
However, if numbers are anything to go by, it does not look like the goals statistics this 2015 season will be so much different from the 2014 season when a total of 533 goals were scored the entire season which gives an average of 2.22 goals per game thanks to a recent time record of three teams (Power, Zanaco, Nkana) hitting the 50 goal mark in one season.
The Zambian football scene has also cried for a striker who can bang in at least 20 goals per season, however, it does not look like that striker will be produced this season.
It is however good to note that the number of goals scored each season has been steadily increasing over the years 2011 = 467 goals; 2012 = 472 goals; 2013 = 510 goals and 2014 = 533 goals.
At the current rate, the 533 goals mark set last season will not be beaten, but Zambianfootball.co.zm will give an analysis of the goals rate at the half way mark.
