Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant is set to name his squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast in the next 72 hours.
Grant is expected to have a few players back in the team after they missed the back to back Chad.
Leicester City forward Patson Daka returned to full team training last week for the first time since August and could be available to face Ivory Coast.
Daka suffered an injury in Leicester City’s final preseason encounter and is yet to play a game this season.
The question for Avram Grant could be on the fitness levels and the match sharpness of the Kafue Celtic product.
Italy based winger Lameck Banda also returned to action after missing the Chad games and is expected to make the squad.
Defender Stophila Sunzu is also back from injury and is expected to be available for selection.
Danish based forward Edward Chilufya is still out nursing an injury and is a doubt for the match having last been in action on October 3rd in a UEFA Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The Mphande Youth product came off the bench to score the second goal in Midtjylland’s 2-0 win.
Germany based winger Lubambo Musonda is also still nursing a groin injury and could once again miss out.
The big question remains on Fashion Sakala who has had a falling out with the Israeli gaffer since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
It’s not clear whether Sakala will finally be part of the team to face the Elephants of Cotê D’Ivoire.
Klings Kangwa and Emmanuel Banda scored in their last games which is good news for Grant heading into the must win game against Ivory Coast.
The Chipolopolo Boys will host Ivory Coast on November 15 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 18h00.
I have no word for you Grant but behave like a parent for once and call Fashion Sakala. As ZAMBIANS we need him so very much on this encounter.SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE GRANT.This is a must win GAME AND DONT GO WITH YOUR SILLY EXPERIMENTS.GO WITH A KILLER PUNCH.
No Brian we should be apealing to Fashon .As a son he must find space in his heart to humble himself and solve this whole problem. It’s not the other way round.
We need to put our heads together, the coaching staff, GRZ, the players themselves and our general analysis. We cannot say that we have no material to raise our national flag NO. We have ammunition to see our opponents scattered and Carry on the points through to the tournament. Coordinating local motivation and blending the players.
Zambia has been haunted and Zambia forget making it to 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Your so called national team its not balanced in the sense that there is unforseen hand. Truely speaking you goal keeper is waste I mean so called first choice goal keeper. Roster Nsabata is far much better than your first choice. And who chose him pick players on merit bases not based on regions
