Chipolopolo Boys coach Avram Grant has praised his players for showing character.
The Chipolopolo Boys threw away a lead twice to beat Sierra Leone 3-2 in a Morocco 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Ndola.
Striker Kennedy Musonda gave Zambia a 1-0 lead before second half goals from Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba and Kings Kangwa sealed the victory.
“It was a great win, really great win. We played very good football,” a relieved Grant said in a post match interview.
“We created chances, but more importantly, we showed great mentality because after they equalised 1-1, then 2-2, two minutes after every goal we scored, but we scored,” the former Chelsea and West Ham manager said.
” I know many teams that can break, but we continued playing and played well.”
“And if I may, it was the same as it was in Ivory Coast.
“The players are showing a lot of character, fighting spirit, and commitment, and I am very happy about that.”
With Ivory Coast moving to 6 points after beating Chad 2-0, Zambia is now second in the group with 3 points.
Chad and Sierra Leone have a point each.
The AFCON qualifiers will resume next month with the Copper Bullets facing Chad in back to back games.

That man will take the team nowhere. How can the team be said to have performed well when they allowed in goals, two minutes after scoring each goal? They were even lucky to come out with a win just at the very end of the game.
