Avram Grant has rated Zambia’s 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast on Friday as his ‘best ever.’
Grant has now guided back to the African Cup of Nations with a game to spare.
“After 51 years of coaching, this is the best victory ever,” the former Chelsea manager said.
A Kennedy Musonda first half strike earned Zambia a hard fought victory over the West Africans.
The Copper Bullets were missing key players like Patson Daka, Lubambo Musonda and Lameck Banda.
“Beating the African champions with all the difficulties we faced with our players injured, I am very happy. “
Zambia top the group with 10 points while Ivory Coast are on 9 points with Sierra Leone on 5 points.
Zambia will face the Leone Stars on Tuesday with Ivory Coast hosting Chad in the final group matches.
Wish you the best football 🏈🏈
Thank you coach for GRANTing us the qualification aided by the belief in team work regardless of whr the players are foreign based or local. What matters is the display of talent, discipline, patriotism and courage. The boys displayed that so so well.
🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲 congratulations team 🎶
LET US SEAL TOP SPOT AGAINST the final tough opponents….
Congratulations Zambia.
To all the players believe in yourselves. There is a military saying “the fall of a soldier is the rise of another “. This was proved last night.
Great game it was, the coach has instilled a great sense of discipline in the players, and also the absence of other key players has given great opportunity to the discovery of other great talents.
