Zambia coach Avram Grant has heaped praise on his boys for the performance against Ivory Coast.
Zambia qualified to the African Cup of Nations following a home win over the West African giants at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Second half goals from Patson Daka and Kings Kangwa, and a Serge Aurier own goal earned the Copper Bullets a 3-0 win over the Elephants.
The Israeli revealed that he told his players a famous quote in order to motivate them.
“One of the quotes I told the players is ‘don’t ask what the country can give to you, ask what you can give to the country, and I think you can be very proud of them,”
The former Chelsea manager said he was happy with both the fighting and team spirit his boys exhibited on the pitch.
“I am very happy with the fighting spirit of the team,” the 69 year old said.
”Ivory Coast is one of the best teams in Africa but we were better than them today. I am very happy.”
“I told you when I came, our target is to win every game. Our target is to try and win every game.
