Green Buffaloes this morning suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 2-0 at the hands of Red Arrows, BUSA Queens’ struggles have continued as they lost 3-1 away to ZESCO Ndola Girls while Lusaka Dynamos Ladies were held to a goalless draw by Nkana Queens.
Grace Chanda has continued with her prolific nature as she netted two beautiful goals in either half to lead Red Arrows to well deserved 2-0 win over Green Buffaloes.
The two teams in Women’s football (arguably) came head to head this morning with their unbeaten runs at stake. Arrows were without their captain Mary Wilombe who is nursing an injury. Etas Banda started upfront as Ochumba Oseke Lubanji dropped to the bench.
After a slow start, Memory Nthala had a chance to put Buffaloes in the lead but somehow missed the chance.
With the match almost going to the break level Grace Chanda produced a brilliant long-range shot to put the Airwomen in the lead a few minutes to half time. In the second stanza the Copper Queens star forward again produced another moment of brilliance beating Aisha in the Green Buffaloes goal, 2-0 the match ended.
The win takes Arrows to the summit with 14 points while the loss is the first for Buffaloes who drop to fourth place.
In Ndola, ZESCO Ndola Girls handed BUSA Queens their third loss this season. Fridah Kabwe netted a brace while Thandiwe Ndhlovu scored her fourth goal of the season to seal the 3-1 win with the consolation goal coming from Tisilile Lungu.
In Mufulira, Queens Academy recorded their third won of the season beating Mufulira Wanderers Queens 2-0. At Nkana Queens put up a splendid performance as they held Lusaka Dynamos to a goalless draw while National Assembly lived up to their name of draw specialists as they played to another goalless draw this time around against Nkwazi Queens.
