Copper Queens vice captain Grace Chanda finally made her long awaited debut for Orlando Pride coming off the bench in their loss to Washington Spirit.
Chanda joined Orlando Pride in May 2024 on an initial two year deal but only made her debut in the early hours of Sunday.
It was bitter sweet however as the Pride fell to the Washington Spirit via a 1-0 scoreline at Inter&Co Stadium.
āFirst minutes in the purple kit. One chapter down, many more to write. Proud to wear the Orlando Pride jersey. Thank you to everyone who believed in me. #GC10 #AmazingGrace #SuperDangoteā
The Pride suffered their first loss of the season after starting out with four straight wins. The match marked the first regular season loss for the team in Orlando against the Spirit since October 5, 2019.
The Pride had plenty of scoring chances during the match with a total of 20 shots, including six on target. A big opportunity in the match came in the 65th minute when forward Barbra Banda had her header hit off the crossbar.
The Pride were able to find the back of the net off a corner kick from Marta to level the match in the second half, but following a lengthy video review, the goal was eventually called off.
Prisca Chilufya came off the bench to replace Ally Watt in the 69th minute while Barbra Banda put in a full shift.
Next up for Orlando Pride is another home encounter as they welcome Angel City FC to Inter&Co Stadium on Friday, April 25.
