Govt plans to build a Stadium in Livingstone

Minister of Youth, Sport and Art Elvis Nkandu says plans are underway to construct a stadium in Livingstone to promote sports tourism in the country.

Nkandu says this is to compliment other tourism attractions in the tourists capital.

He was speaking during a phone interview on The Update, a live TV program on ZNBC today.

He also disclosed that plans are under way to have one or two sports facilities in rural areas to help in taping talent in the rural parts of the country.

Zambia has two ultra modern stadia; National Heroes Stadium (Lusaka) and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium (Ndola).

The Football Association of Zambia have submitted a bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

CAF will be expected to make visits to Zambia between 5th and 25th January 2023 for Inspections with the CAF Executive Committee expected to appoint a host nation on 10th February. 

Guinea were stripped of the rights after CAF assessed that they were not ready to host the continental showpiece.
