The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts has granted a K5,000 bonus to each member of the U17 Women’s National Squad following their impressive 3-1 victory over Morocco on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
The Copper Princesses played the first leg of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final qualifier at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, showcasing their prowess with goals from Green Buffaloes striker Namute Chileshe.
Morocco’s Azraf Kautar managed a response in the 37th minute, but the Zambian team held their lead to secure a decisive win.
Despite limited involvement in developmental sports, Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to recognizing and encouraging young talent.
And Team Captain Zangose Zulu, representing Pataaka FC, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and vowed to deliver strong performances in the upcoming return leg in Morocco on June 15, 2024.
The aggregate winner of this two-legged fixture will earn a spot in the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
